Maple Grove Fox Report

It has been a great first month of 2022, despite some of the cold temperatures. We have held our second quarter Community Crew, our December Reading Incentive, and everyone almost has FastBridge testing wrapped up. A shout out to our art teacher, Stephanie Kohli, for redesigning our Maple Grove Charter School logo, as seen below, to put our CRISP traits in order. As a school we have really been focusing on Stewardship the last couple of weeks. Making sure we are good stewards in the lunch room, in our classroom, in the hallways and hopefully also at home and in our community. Learners are making sure they do their part to clean up after themselves and even help if others forget to clean up or need help.

It may seem a bit early to think about flowers but planting season is just around the corner. These gorgeous flowers are grown locally right here down the road from Maple Grove Charter School. They make fabulous Mother's Day gifts. Great way to start thinking about spring!

This is just a friendly reminder that if your child rides a school bus to and/or from school it is a federal mandate to wear a mask on public transportation that covers both their mouth and nose. This is also a mandate when your child goes on field trips with a school bus. We do have some extra paper masks at school if they lose or forget theirs. Thank you for your continued support.

On Friday, Jan 21 we had our 2nd quarter Community Crew. The staff dressed up in their woodland costumes again and put on skits around the different parts of our school to showcase the CRISP traits. This was then presented as a newscast to the learners. Owl, the reporter, went around getting the learners opinions on what the woodland creatures could do better to follow the CRISP traits. Maple the Fox even made an appearance. Afterwards, our classroom teachers spoke about some of their learners who have shown exceptional CRISP traits throughout the quarter. I am so proud of all our learners here at Maple Grove Charter as I watch our "CRISP WALL" fill up in our hallway with all the Fox Tales! Great job Foxes!

Our pizza fry fundraiser pick up will be Saturday, Feb. 12, from 9:00 am -12:00 pm. If you can't make it during this time please ask someone to pick-up your order as we do not have freezer space to store it here. Thank you for making this such a successful fundraiser! We raised $2,922 in profit for Maple Grove Charter School! A huge SHOUT OUT to our AMAZING families and community for supporting us!

We celebrated our December reading incentive. It was set up with four rotations: Musical chairs and hot chocolate inside and snow coloring and sledding outside. Staff and students both thoroughly enjoyed this event! Please enjoy the video below to see all the highlights from this reading incentive.

All grades will be taking their midyear screeners the week of Jan. 17th. Please make sure they get plenty of sleep and a good breakfast or have breakfast here at school those days. This is a screener we take 3 times a year in reading and math to monitor progress and determine where we need to best support our learners. You will receive the results after we complete it and review the data. Thank you for your continued support at home with your child's education!

Our PTO Meeting is Thursday, Feb. 3 at 6:00 at Maple Grove. ALL are welcome! Our main topic will be our Open House/Family Fun night on March 9. Please come share your ideas, talents, or just come to see how you can support a great event!

Our Open House/Family Night will be Wednesday, March 9, 5:00-7:00 at Maple Grove. We will have a luminary walk in our beautiful forest, soup and breadsticks from Olive Garden, face painting, a craft room, and a selfie photo booth. Staff will be on hand to give tours and answer any questions. We are looking to welcome ALL who would like to join us on this fun night. We are also looking for new families to come check out our fantastic school! Please spread the word! Open enrollment runs from Feb. 1 - April 31. Please encourage new families or families with new kindergarteners to fill out our Maple Grove Charter School application: https://bit.ly/MGCSApp This will also be included on our future flyers. You do not need to fill out the application if your child currently attends Maple Grove.
