DID YOU KNOW?
There are many ways students are demonstrating being “resilient” - one of the “Model Mustang” competencies - in our classrooms. First graders at Muraski are setting weekly individual and classroom goals, as well as monthly academic goals. The students are also tracking their progress in Math and sharing with their classmates on ways to practice and improve. They have created a test reflection sheet for Fundations (spelling/phonics program) which helps them complete a checklist of areas they have been successful and where they may need to improve. Special thanks to our first grade teachers at Muraski - Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. Gibson, and Mrs. Koestner for incorporating and building this skill in their students! #WeAreStrongsville #ModelMustang

SHS JUNIOR SANJANA KATIYAR EARNS 3RD PLACE IN “STOP THE HATE” ESSAY CONTEST
Strongsville High School Junior Sanjana Katiyar recently entered the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage “Stop the Hate” Essay Contest. The contest celebrates Northeast Ohio students committed to creating a more accepting, inclusive society by standing up and speaking out against bias and bigotry. Each year approximately 3,000 students enter, and 20 finalists are named. Sanjana was awarded 3rd place and received a $5,000 scholarship, along with earning a $2,000 Anti-Bias Education Grant for SHS. Click HERE to see her essay and the rest of the winners. Congratulations Sanjana!
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. TRACY BRITTON, SCIENCE TEACHER AT STRONGSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Mrs. Tracy Britton is an 8th grade science teacher at Strongsville Middle School. Mrs. Britton is the Team Leader of the 8th Grade Pirates team and has been teaching in our District - all at the middle school grade level - for twenty-six years. She earned her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and her graduate degree from Cleveland State University. A self-described “big animal lover - especially rescue dogs,” Mrs. Britton also loves to travel and learn about other cultures. She has even been to every continent except Antarctica, but hopes to one day visit there, as well.
“I enjoy building relationships with my students and learning about their life and interests outside of school. The best part about working at Strongsville Middle School is collaborating with my Pirates team coworkers and my 8th grade science department,” said Mrs. Britton.
Thank you Mrs. Britton for always encouraging your students to explore and expand their knowledge in the science classes you teach at SMS! #WeAreStrongsville
