Join us TONIGHT (September 10th) at 6 pm for our first meeting of the year. Location: the sheltered outdoor classroom at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve (2616 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary).

We will be keeping a close eye on the weather and will use REMIND if we have last minute changes. So excited to see all of you - bring your mask and chair! Spirit wear and Jo coffee will also be available for sale.

Our communications team is working this week to plug parent contact info into the Remind platform. If you receive a text message asking you to join, reply YES to avoid missing important band updates.

Monday, September 14th and Tuesday, September 15th

6:00 - 7:30 pm

All students enrolled in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band are invited to swing by the school to pick up practice music. Please enter the parking lot of Athens Drive by the band room. As you pull around the corner, Doc and volunteers will have tables set up to distribute your music packets. If students need instruments or accessories, you will need to park and remain in your vehicle while Doc assists you.

This event will be conducted as safely as possible. Distribution volunteers will be wearing a mask and will do a health screening prior to coming to Athens. Any student/parent who emerges from a vehicle needs to wear a mask as well.

We are looking for a few families who can help to maintain the practice field used by the marching band throughout our normal season. Responsibilities would include mowing the one acre field (using the riding mower stored at school) and trimming around posts. This is usually done 2-3 times per month during the growing season. Do you have a story to tell about the Athens Drive Band Program? Would you be willing to share how Doc and this program have positively impacted you or someone you love? We are seeking testimonials that can be used as part of a brand new fundraising initiative called Back the Band! This donation campaign is designed to rebuild the band program from the devastating losses of 2020 by reaching out to family, coworkers, businesses, neighbors, friends and followers with our story.

Our organization is just one of many seeking support during these difficult times, but we know how important it is to protect THIS program and ensure its future. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The Athens Drive Band, like so many others, is facing difficult times. With the loss of major fundraisers, we are currently focusing efforts on developing our new "Back the Band" donation campaign, obtaining sponsorships and corporate support, and expanding our Dewey's Holiday Store. We can't do it without you.
