DWS 12 Nights of Reading
Mrs. MacNeil has been sending home a link to an online read aloud story chosen by teachers and staff each night. The following day, a trivia questions are asked during the morning announcements about the book and prizes have been awarded to the first classroom that answers the question correctly! Thank you for joining us in this fun holiday literacy activity!
Please join the DWS PTO on PTBoard, today!
PTBoard is an online platform that we use to communicate school information, events and volunteer opportunities to families. As we move away from sending home paper flyers, this will be the only way to stay up-to-date on school events and place orders for school spiritwear, etc. Accounts are free to set up and in no way commit you to volunteering for the PTO. Please reach out with questions at yourdwspto@gmail.com.

Still Looking for 1 Site Council Member
Since the passage of the 1993 Education Reform Act, all schools in Massachusetts must form School Councils, which include representation from parents, teachers, the community, and school administration. The purpose of the School Council is to involve parents and teachers in school decision-making. The School Council will also formulate an annual school improvement plan with the goal of strengthening the bond between our school and the Marshfield community we serve. This plan is then submitted to the Superintendent and School Committee.
We are looking for ONE parent to join our School Council this year! We encourage all parents to consider this opportunity for meaningful dialogue and active participation in our Daniel Webster School community. The meetings are generally held once each month on Tuesdays at 4:00.
Holiday Assistance
Please contact us at DWS if you are finding your family may need support this holiday season. We have resources and donations available that can support your family. We understand this is a sensitive matter and all communication and support will be held in confidence with our team. Please reach out to mfish@mpsd.org if you are in need of support.

The DWS Winter Sleigh Ride
written by: Matthew W
Hey DWS families! Did you go on the sleigh ride Wednesday night? If not that is OK, I will fill you in and let me tell you it was a fun night. There was hot chocolate with all the fixing, marshmallows, Sprinkles, and candy canes, kids laughing, music playing, coloring and lots of friends. It was a really special night but before we get into that Give A big thanks to the PTO, Merry & Bright for donating the lights, the workers at HKS Clydesdales and the four Wonderful horses.
As the night got colder and colder the horses kept going around and around it started to snow and became a really magical moment at Daniel Webster School. This is the Weekly Newsletter, team signing off. Keep being a DWS kid and have a Happy holiday.
"Kramer, born in 2005, was purchased as Cosmo's teammate and they enjoyed their time together. Today, he spends his limited work time with Ritz. He will try anything we ask and his work ethic is unmatched by anyone else in the barn.”
“Carl was born in 2007 and purchased in the spring of 2011. Carl is sweet and steady and always aims to please. In harness, he is most comfortable following his leaders and working in the team. He loves going on trail rides and finding all the mud in the pasture. “
“Nick came to us as a riding horse in 2015, but has learned and earned his place in the wheel of the hitch. Nick has been a steadfast teacher for young Thatcher. He spends his leisure time with his friends Thatcher and Red in the turn out. With all the willing riders, he still likes being a trail horse, too. “
Fun fact - you might see Nick at Rexhame beach in Marshfield Mass
“Shining Meadows Timothy, affectionately known as "Timmy," is Thatcher's little brother. He spends his days growing big to catch up to his brother, before his official training starts. Since he was born in February 2020, there will be a few years of growing before he fits into a harness.”
What's been happening around DWS?

Thank you to our PTO for organizing, Merry and Bright for donating the lights, and our custodian Mr. Silveri for helping to make this night a huge success!
DWS Kids Hard at Work
Kindergarten and First Graders learning in action!
Third Grade Bookclub
The boys in this third grade bookclub did such a great job retelling/summarizing their favorite parts of the story with their ROZ robot. They built a nest for our last FUN FRIDAY/ Tuesday session of this book. We made predictions about what the sequel, The Wild Robot Escapes will be about. They did some nice writing about characters, completed word games, learned and applied new vocabulary, individualized decoding strategies, worked on expression, fluency and bolstered confidence as readers! They were so excited!!!! These faces say it all!
