CPEC WEEKLY UPDATE (11/04-11/08)
Small School, Big Opportunities, Endless Possibilities!!
Principal Turner's Corner
Dear CPEC Families,
We hope you had a wonderful weekend! Here are the key updates and reminders for the upcoming week:
Tuesday, November 5 - Election Day: Tuesday is Election Day and will be a Teacher Workday. There will be no classes for students, but teachers will be on campus for planning and professional development.
Wednesday, November 6 - Pre-ACT Exam for 10th Graders: Our 10th-grade students will be taking the Pre-ACT exam on Wednesday. This is an important assessment that helps students prepare for the ACT and provides valuable insights into areas for academic growth. Please ensure that 10th graders arrive on time and are well-rested for testing.
Upcoming Benchmark Assessments: Benchmark assessments for End-of-Course (EOC) classes are scheduled for November 12 - November 15. These assessments are an opportunity for students and teachers to gauge progress and identify areas needing support as we approach the end of the semester. More details will be shared with students in their classes.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education at CPEC. Please reach out if you have any questions or need assistance. We look forward to a productive week ahead!
Warm regards,
Principal Turner

Volunteering opportunities: The Community Service page of my website has been updated for students interested in pursuing volunteering outside of school. These are agencies who have accepted high school volunteers in the past; it is not an exhaustive list and is not an endorsement of any of the agencies listed.
CP Advisors on campus 11/7: That is Thursday! This is likely the last time they will be here until spring semester. Please plan to stop by with any questions about spring 2025 classes or other long-term planning questions about college classes.
Communicate with your CP instructors! CMS and CPEC schools are closed on Tuesday, November 5 for Election Day. However, CPCC is open and students are expected to attend college classes as scheduled, if at all possible. If you are unable to make it to class on Tuesday, you should communicate ahead of time with your instructors to let them know why and to see what you can do to make up any work. NOTE: 9th graders will NOT have HEA or PED classes on Tuesday, since those are CPEC only classes.
Tuesday, November 5th - Election Day and CMS Teacher Workday
Tuesday, November 5th is election day and CMS will be closed for students. CPCC college courses will be held as regularly scheduled on Tuesday with the exception of Health and PE classes. CMS bus transportation will not be available on Tuesday.
Pre-ACT Assessment (Wednesday, November 6th)
Benefits of Pre-ACT Assessments:
Test questions like those on the ACT—Gives you valuable practice, including questions and scores similar to those on the ACT test.
• Ideas for improvement—Includes multiple-choice questions in English, reading, math, and science. Your scores will reveal your current knowledge and skills in each area. Since you get to keep your PreACT test booklet, you can go back through the questions and compare your answers with the correct ones after you get your results. This can help you focus on critical areas for improvement. PreACT assessments student report will give you targeted ideas to work on based on your subject scores report.
• Career suggestions based on your goals and interests— PreACT® 8/9 and PreACT reports include information about career possibilities, based on your answers to the ACT Interest Inventory, which you can use to start thinking about your future. The reports also provide career suggestions based on your interests.
