AMI Information
Snow days will be a little different this year. This year we will have AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) days if we need to be closed for inclement weather. For STMS students, this means they will need to check their email and Google classrooms for specific instructions from their teachers. Work can be completed throughout the day in any way that works best for the student and your families, but we will provide a schedule for all students to follow in case they need a structured schedule to follow. We won't have scheduled Google meets at specific times, but teachers will be available during school hours via email and/or Google meet if students have any questions. If you do not have wifi at home, please simply communicate that with us, and we will work through that situation. Thank you! The goal of an AMI day is to learn from home in a manageable way.
The reason for this change in our snow days is due to Senate Bill 727. Our district must meet the required number of days (169) and hours (1044) to qualify for an incentive of one percent of our state aide, or $65,000. There is no forgiveness for snow days. If we need to call off school for inclement weather, students will learn from home.
Please make sure to have your email and phone number updated in Infinite Campus as notification regarding AMI days will go out through Parent Portal. Announcements will also be made on the district and school Facebook pages and local news channels.
If you have any questions regarding AMI days, please feel free to call or email Dr. Lewis. Thank you!

After-School Tutoring Information
After-school tutoring takes place each week Monday - Thursday. Please be sure to read the following information regarding tutoring. If you have any questions, please give us a call, and we will be happy to help you. Thank you!
Please be sure to complete this form each week. Tutoring is open to all students, but we want to make sure that you’re aware of the following points:
Transportation will not be provided; therefore, students will need their own transportation.
Tutoring will take place Monday-Thursday after school until 4:30 pm.
Students who stay for tutoring will be assigned to a specific classroom.
Students who sign up for tutoring will stay on those days only. Parents/Guardians will receive confirmation calls on the first day of the week to confirm tutoring for the week based on the information provided to us via the Google form. We will not plan for students to stay for tutoring until we've received confirmation.
To attend tutoring, parents/guardians will sign up their child(ren) at the start of each week.
It is strongly recommended that students attend tutoring who currently have more than 2 Fs in a core (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) class, 3 or more missing assignments, and/or who are working on maintaining eligibility for athletic participation. Tutoring is also valuable time to receive extra help in specific classes.
Please take a few minutes to complete the form below if you would like your child(ren) to stay for tutoring this week (December 9th-12th). For your convenience, this tutoring form will be shared each week on the newsletter. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions.
Attendance Information and School Hours
Please help us by reminding your child about the importance of school attendance. Missing just two days a week adds up quickly and creates a situation where students fall behind in their learning. If there is anything we can do to help support you, please let us know. We track student attendance and will communicate with families if a student's attendance falls below 90%.
The graphics below illustrate how we are doing with attendance up to this point. Every single day matters. Thank you for your help!
