Workshop Description
This discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding and respect to foster healthy relationships between parents and their children. It explores how mutual understanding enhances communication, allowing families to navigate challenges and strengthen their bonds. This workshop will provide parents with actionable strategies to improve their relationships with their children, ultimately promoting a nurturing environment that values understanding and respect.
Meet our Presenter
Dr. James Jenkins is the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for the Conejo Valley Unified School District. Dr. Jenkins is tasked with providing leadership, coordination, and support of the ongoing development, implementation, and administration of all phases of the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts of the CVUSD.
Prior to joining the CVUSD, Dr. Jenkins served as the Principal of Las Colinas Middle School in the Pleasant Valley School District. Before that, he served two years as an administrator in the Simi Valley Unified School District – one year as an Assistant Principal at Simi Valley High School and one year as the Dean of Students at Sinaloa Middle School. Before becoming an administrator, Dr. Jenkins served as an Educational Specialist Teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels, working as a special education teacher in a behaviorally structured program and teaching Specialized Academic Instruction, English Language Arts, and History.
Dr. Jenkins has recently completed the doctoral program at California Lutheran University. He graduated from California State University Channel Islands with his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Grand Canyon University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from California Lutheran University.
He holds an Educational Specialist: Mild/Moderate Credential and an Administrative Services Credential.
