Note From Our Admin Team
This week I had the pleasure of meeting with most of our teams. Typically our admin team talks about the expectations at Wredling and we make sure everyone has heard the same message. But by seeing our students around the building, they get our rules. This is nothing new to themโฆ the school rules have not changed much since kindergarten!
So I opted for a different track. This year I created a presentation called, โHow to Be Successful in Middle School in 13 Easy Lessonsโ. My goal was to talk to kids about what it takes to be a successful student and a successful human- really more life lessons than just school lessons. The 13 lessons were:
Lesson #1: People will remember how you make them feel.
Kindness is easy. Being mean takes work.
Learning matters. This school matters.
Set goals and create plans
Strong people ask for help.
The details matter.
Success is like an iceberg
Bullying and meanness wonโt be tolerated.
Neither will racism.
You determine your pathway to success.
Live up to the expectations set for you.
When you make a mistake, make it right.
Do good.
Here is the slideshow I created to teach these lessons. During the presentation I shared stories from my 33 years as an educator to explain why these lessons are important.
Parents, teachers, paraeducators, administrators, and many others partner to ensure that our children grow up to be kind, thoughtful, hard working adults. More than you will ever know, we appreciate it when parents work with us in positive ways to support a young RedHawk as they build their skills and knowledge.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim
i-Ready Diagnostics Next Week
Fall i-Ready diagnostics are taken by students to gather baseline academic data in order for us to develop targeted instructional plans of action. A similar assessment will take place in the winter and again in the spring. Students will be taking their Fall i-Ready diagnostics on Tuesday, August 22nd and Thursday, August 24th. Our bell schedule will be modified on both of these days. Makeups will take place the following week.
Please see THIS LETTER from David Chiszar, Executive Director of Assessment and Accountability, for details.

Important Message Regarding School Pictures
Which applies to your family?
1) My Student DID NOT get their school photo taken at Material Pick-Up
If your student did NOT get their school picture taken at Material Pick-Up either August 1st or August 2nd, they will be taken on Monday, August 28th during the morning at school.
2) My Student DID get their school photo taken at Material Pick-Up & I ordered pictures
You only need to place an order if you did not purchase from our original picture days during Material Pick-Up or if you are unhappy with the photo order - which will be sent home with your student next week. If you choose to have a picture retake you will need to return the original photo package. Your student MUST bring the photo package with them on August 28th to the photographer.
3) My student DID get their school photo taken but I DID NOT order
Your student will recieve a preview photo on a small calendar. These will be distributed next week at school along with the photo packets. We will notify families when those have been distributed. Many students don't bring them home so be sure to ask your student for it. If you like the preview and would like to order prints, there will be directions on the calendar for ordering.
Finding the Right Person at WMS
Here is a list of all of our Team Leaders, Admin, and Student Support Team members who will support your child. Please keep this link handy for future reference.
You can also use our Staff directory located on the right hand side of the Wredling Website.
So who do I contact for my concern???
While there are always some exceptions, the general rule of thumb is to email or call:Emotional issues - Counselors
Disciplinary issues - Student Services Coordinators (Deans)
School work issue - Teachers
- In general, if your child needs support, start with the teacher and then the team leader. If you still need help, move to the Assistant Principals (academics) or Student Support Coordinators (Deans) (behavioral).
If you email Tim Loversky (principal) he may forward your email to the right person to handle the issue. Please do not be offended when he does this. The goal is to expedite getting the issue attended to as promptly as possible.
