Standards-Based Report Cards
We're excited to announce a significant change in how we'll be communicating your child's academic progress this year. Our district is transitioning to Standards-Based Progress Reports, a new system designed to provide you with more comprehensive and meaningful insights into your child's educational journey.
These new reports will offer detailed information about your child's progress in all subject areas, directly relating their performance to curriculum standards. Additionally, you'll receive valuable information about your child's social and behavioral development.
In this new system, subject areas are broken down into specific skills and knowledge that students are expected to learn. Your child's performance will be evaluated for each standard using a variety of methods. Instead of traditional letter grades, we'll be using a 3-2-1 scale. A "3" indicates your child consistently demonstrates the skill or knowledge, a "2" shows they're in the process of developing it, and a "1" means they're at the beginning stage of understanding. Teacher comments will provide insight into your child's next steps in learning. For students with 504 Accommodation Plans or IEPs, the reports will reflect any specified modifications or accommodations.
Kindergarten families will receive these reports twice a year, while grades 1-5 will receive them three times annually. At the end of the school year, teachers will provide an overall assessment of whether curriculum expectations were met in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
