Dear Open High Family,

Prom 2025 was fabulous! Students looked AMAZING, the music was loud, and the dance floor was full. Thanks to all those who came out to celebrate and Ryan Eldridge for coordinating this event.

Class of 2026 and parents are invited to learn more about the college process at Junior College Night this Tuesday evening at 6 pm. Make the most of the summer months by getting an early start for a no-stress senior year!

Thursday, April 24, from 3:30-5:30 pm is our annual Art Exhibition and Bake Sale. Come to the parking lot of Open and enjoy beautiful student artwork and perhaps purchase a tasty treat to raise money for art supplies-- which are incredibly expensive and, of course, not covered by the public school budget. Help us bridge the gap and ensure that ART at Open is fully funded! We also need help stocking the bake sale--please sign up at this link to send something in (homemade OR store-bought is appreciated!). Thank you, and we hope to see you at this lovely event. As the end of the year approaches, so too do end of year exams. Please read all about SOL and AP Testing in this letter that was distributed on Friday. Students can review Practice Items for all SOL subjects here. See your teacher for additonal support. Everyone is welcome to this week's Saturday School for extra time to prepare.

Student Opportunities!

Looking for a great PAID experience this summer? Join Groundwork RVA, a local non-profit focused on providing outdoor work-learning experiences for Richmond Area high schoolers. Th Summer Green Team is a paid opportunity for students to explore environmental careers, do hands-on greenspace work in Richmond, and travel to state & National parks. Groundwork RVA also assists students for life after high school by setting up interviews or internships in their field of interest. The Youth Educator, Ii'Jeana James, is an Open High graduate! PTSA

The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM. Please become a member and make your voice heard. Your dues are an important funding source for our school, supporting field trips, teacher classroom supplies, student clubs, monthly breakfasts, senior scholarships, the fall festival, the end-of-the year picnic, teacher appreciation week, holiday treats, and more! Joining does not obligate you to anything although we are always looking for more help! Extra donations are also very much appreciated.
