January 10, 2025
Dear Middlebrook Families,
The weather certainly has been cold and blustery over the last several days. Please send your child to school each day dressed for the possibility of outdoor recess or a walk around the school. If you are missing any clothing items, the Lost and Found bin is located in the vestibule and is currently quite full. Encourage your child to check the bin after they consult with their classroom teacher.
For those more inclined to warmer weather, spring is a mere 69 days away. We can look forward to longer days, erupting flowers and sunshine upon our faces. Some of us still enjoy the brisk outdoors and find delight in snow, ice and the comfort of a warm fire. Whatever your enjoy the most, embrace the season and those you love.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Ponte
Ms. Molloy

Attendance
As we approach the near half-way mark of the school year, we continue to stress the importance of daily attendance for our students. According to our records, we currently have over 4 percent of our students who are considered chronically absent. The state guideline is to be below 5 percent. We need to work together to improve our daily attendance at school. Of course, if children are not feeling, they should stay home. As you know, when children do not attend school regularly, it disrupts their learning. Please make every effort to have your child present in school when he/she is feeling well.
Student Spotlight
Leadership Conference
Our Student Council Senators had the opportunity to attend the CAS Elementary Leadership Conference at Housatonic Community College today. The students were engaged in many hands-on activities centered around creative problem solving, communication, decision making and productive thinking. They represented Middlebrook well, and have some wonderful, new ideas to bring back to our community from their experience.
Grade 5
Mrs. Bossio's class tested out their paper airplanes after learning about the Wright Brothers.

Grade 4
Meet the fourth grade team! (From left to right: Miss Ferguson, Mrs. Rydelek, Mrs. Angelovic, and Ms. Schaefer). Before starting their careers in education, they had some unique jobs. Miss Ferguson worked at a beach concession stand in Rhode Island. Mrs. Rydelek was an assistant manager at Video World in Trumbull (which is now Trumbull Café and Grill). Mrs. Angelovic was a baker at Dunkin’ Donuts in East Granby, CT. And finally, Ms. Schaefer was a public relations and marketing manager in New York City and in Atlanta, GA. Here’s a fun fact: they are the only grade level team with each teacher’s age in a different decade!
