24-25 NPHS Technology Updates
Important Technology Information for the 24-25 School Year
Student Chromebook Information
Access to technology and the instruction resources used by teachers are essential for the success of your child in high school. We are strongly encouraging all students to check out a school issued Chromebook to ensure that they have full accessibility to all assessments like CAASPP, PSAT, & APs, etc.. All Newbury Park High School students should bring their school issued Chromebook or personal device to school daily with a fully charged battery. Students without a device may not be able to participate in class learning activities.
Here are some important updates for all NPHS students and families:
All 9th grade students, new students, and current students that do not have Chromebook can check out a Chromebook during Orientation. (Please refer to the grade level schedule)
All families need to complete the the enrollment updates that were sent in an email by the school district on August 1.
Copies of all Chromebook-related documentation in both English and Spanish are available on the Technology Services webpage at Technology Services / Overview (conejousd.org)
Chromebook Accidental Breakage Program
Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) is pleased to provide all students with a Chromebook through the District’s 1:1 Program. While at no cost to families, proper use and care of the Chromebook is the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian.
To support this program, CVUSD is offering Chromebook Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) program for parents to eliminate the concern and costs of repairing or replacing damaged, or stolen Chromebooks. The District recommends parents/guardians purchase this $25 device accidental damage protection from CVUSD.
This fee to covers potential incidents like cracked screens, missing keyboard keys, damaged plastics, liquid spills, and theft. Funds from this program will be used to repair damaged devices or replace devices covered under the program. Without accidental damage protection, typical repair costs for things like a broken screen or keyboard can range from $100 - $200. For excessive damage, Chromebooks have a total replacement cost of $250 - $400 depending on the model.
Our goal is to ease parent concerns over damage to devices while in their child's care and continue to support a sustainable take-home program for our schools. The ADP program protects the student’s district-issued device against up to two (2) instances of accidental damage or one (1) complete replacement of a damaged, or stolen device.
Purchasing Accidental Damage Protection is optional, but highly recommended. Accidental Damage Protection purchases are non-refundable. Information regarding the process and timelines to purchase Accidental Damage Protection can be found on the CVUSD Technology Services website. If you miss the initial enrollment window or check out a device later in the year, you can still purchase accidental damage protection for the 24/25 school year using the link below. Late enrollments are not prorated and do not cover incidents of damage before the purchase.
Without Accidental Damage Protection, the student’s legal parent/guardian is responsible for all costs associated with the repair or replacement of the device due to accidental damage, or theft. The student’s legal parent/guardian agrees to reimburse the District for the cost of the students Chromebook within 30 days of reporting damage, theft, or any other loss.

Daily Care and Upkeep For Chromebooks
Student Devices: Reminders To Take Proper Care of the Devices
Student Devices-Students need to close files and folders, Browsers, and Logoff/Sign Off daily.
Below are some best practice recommendations to keep your Laptop or PC working at optimum performance. At the end of the day please complete the following steps:
1) Close all documents and folders daily.
2) Close all web browsers daily (Google Chrome, Edge, Firefox). Google Chrome is the recommended Browser for all District needs. Classlink/Canvas, Webmail, ZOOM, & Q.
3) Log off or Sign Out your device daily. This is important.
4) Shut down the device. Twice a week. Open-Start (lower-left corner Windows Flag)-Power-Hold down the shift key-Shutdown.
5) Please leave the system turned off for at least one minute.
6) Turn On the system.
7) Should the system require updates and/or a reboot. Verify that the AC adapter is connected.
Please do not close the lid and walk away from the Laptop, Chromebook, or PC. This will place the device in sleep mode. We have seen connections fail on occasion.
