Journeying in Hope and Love: Building a Culture of Accompaniment
The Road to Emmaus
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning [within us]
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
~ Luke 24:28-32, 35
Dear St. Clare School Families,
Thank you for your positive partnership during Back to School Night. It is very important to remember that this endeavor called school can only be achieved when there is reciprocity, respect and kindness. After all, we are doing this for the good of the students. Just like in every classroom, every boardroom, every factory, we all come with a variety of gifts and talents as well as a variety of skills we are continually honing. This is what inclusion is about: to understand that together, we can work towards educational equity by removing all obstacles preventing our students to be more of who God intends for them to be.
Soon, we will be scheduling our Parent-Teacher-Student (most grades) Conferences. This is a dedicated time for your child’s learning team to honestly assess the path to growth for your child. This is the height of the partnership between home and school: the ability of all to work together to provide the best possible opportunity for the learner. This and hopefully many more opportunities will exist to engage in honest conversations for the good of the child.
I am grateful to Msgr. Fran for his homily at today’s mass reminding us that our work as servant leaders is not easy. As Christ sees himself as a suffering Messiah, he asks, "Who do you say that I am?" He, himself was aware that public opinion isn't always truth. Jesus wants us to see Him as human, even though we know that He is divine. I hope we, too, see one other as human, capable of weakness, but worthy of respect. After all...aren't our efforts for those other than ourselves? As parents and educators, we will experience challenges, but we must persevere because our work is holy work. Thank you for compassionate and understanding partnership.
SPECIAL SILVER BOX HONORS
Students who go above and beyond to take the initiative to do the right thing will receive our weekly Silver Box Honor. One student is honored in the Elementary Campus (Lower School-Grades TK-5) and one student is honored in the Middle School Campus (Upper School-Grades 6-8) each week. They will be recognized in our weekly newsletter.
This week, we honor Victoria Adams and Ryan Shek who took the initiative to clean up after their peers during lunch recess. Victoria and Ryan saw the value of maintaining a campus that we can be particularly proud of. They prioritized our environment over their own self-interest to play before cleaning up! Congratulations Ryan and Victoria for your Silver Box mindset!

2021-22 School Calendar
Below, you will find the Calendar Grid for the school year. Some find this difficult to navigate, so I’ve created the Calendar Highlights document which I hope will make it a bit easier for you to consume.
Some changes since the end of the school year: we added September 20th as a NO SCHOOL DAY and our School Year will end a day earlier. The original calendar had us attending 183 days of school, knowing that we had three days over the required 180 days. We are keeping the 181 days in the event we have to close for an emergency due to poor air quality.
Other options to view the calendar include a Google calendar synched to ParentSquare, or subscribing to the St. Clare School Public Calendar below:
