The fifth-graders had a spectacular time in Philadelphia, PA, on Monday. I was thrilled to be able to join them. Notable activities included a visit to the President's House, Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's Print Shop, the Museum of the American Revolution, and Independence Hall.
On Wednesday Night, students participated in Ham Ave's Got Talent! Groups and individual students representing various grades sang, danced, and performed for over one hundred audience members. I've included some videos and photos from the event below.
Field Day was a blast today! I've included an album with some photos from the day below. Thank you to all who helped make it a spectacular day!

5th Grade!
Kudos, Fifth-grade! You did an excellent job representing Hamilton Avenue School and demonstrating the norms on our field trip to Philadelphia, PA, on Monday!
On Monday, the fifth grade traveled to Philadelphia. All year, students have been learning about our nation's founding, from exploration to the writing of the Constitution. Students learned about the groups that colonized North America and their interaction with the people already living there, what life was like in colonial America, the events leading to the American Revolution, and the fight for independence. In Philadelphia, students visited the Liberty Bell, the Museum of the American Revolution, the Ben Franklin Print Office, and Independence Hall. The goal of this trip was to allow students to explore firsthand many of the places and events they had learned about. Students were left with a better understanding of what life was like in the colonial period and the importance of the struggle for independence.
