7th grade ELA will continue to read about space. We are currently in the process of writing a 5 paragraph compare/contrast essay focused on characters and mood. We have both fiction and non-fiction stories in this unit and students enjoy the change of topic.

Connect: Students will learn how companies collect our data online and use it. They will also be creating Dream Vacation Brochures to show everything they’ve learned how to do in Google Docs.

Social Studies: We will learn about the trials faced by homesteaders who came to Kansas after the Civil War and how they adapted to the struggles. We will also focus on the various countries that many settlers came here from. The Cattle drives and cowboys were key to Kansas at this time as was the development of the railroad.

In math class, students will continue to work on models with expressions, equations and inequalities.

In science class, students will learn about how electric and magnetic forces work and their usage in everyday life.
