EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to MHS History teacher and Department Head, Cindy Goode, and MHS History teacher, Michelle Stevenson, who are this week's Educators of the Week. Cindy and Michelle spearheaded one of the school's most impactful annual traditions, the Smart with Money Fair. Sponsored by McNamara Financial, this comprehensive event equips high school seniors with essential personal finance knowledge before they enter adulthood.
The innovative program guides students through four real-world workshops covering Saving & Debt, Retirement, Credit, and Housing. Participants engage in a practical simulation where they navigate the challenges of managing an adult budget as 25-year-olds. The day culminates with valuable insights from recent graduates during an engaging Q&A panel.
This ambitious initiative succeeds through dedicated community partners and high school staff volunteers. Thanks to Ms. Goode and Ms. Stevenson's exceptional leadership, this year's event achieved remarkable results. Students reported that the experience prompted critical thinking about their financial futures through relevant, timely information and practical applications they could immediately put into use.
MARSHFIELD ST. PATRICK'S DAY 5K - MARCH 15th!
MOSAIC
Greetings Marshfield Families and Community Members,
All Marshfield families and Community Members are invited to the first annual Marshfield Mosaic, which is set to take place on Thursday, March 27 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM in the Marshfield High School Gymnasium. The Mosaic celebrates the diverse cultures and heritages of our community by providing the opportunity for students, families, staff, and community members to bring food, music, and depictions (posters / photos) of the culture and the history that highlight their nationality. Each group will be provided with a table and tablecloth, and there are opportunities for families who need financial assistance in setting up their tables (for information on financial assistance, please email Joanie Pozerski at jpozerski@mpsd.org). All food must have a list of ingredients displayed. This event allows participants to visit the tables, and to learn about and celebrate the diverse cultures in our community. Enjoy live performances, music, raffles, and more!
If you are interested in being an exhibitor by having a table at this important and inaugural event please sign up by the end of the day, Friday, March 14, 2025, by filling out the form found HERE. Whether you want to showcase your culture as an exhibitor or explore the many cultures that make Marshfield special, there is something for everyone. Please mark your calendar for this vibrant event!
Sincerely,
Patrick Sullivan, Ed.D.

DISTRICT-WIDE BELONGING TEAM
Our third Belonging Team Meeting took place Monday, March 3, 2025. We looked deeply at what is happening with belonging initiatives throughout the district and heard from some fabulous high school students who are starting a "Breaking Boundaries" club to work with elementary schools regarding social-emotional learning. We will continue to update the community on our progress. Here are some images from the third meeting:
SUPERINTENDENT'S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SSAC)
Student voice in everything we do at Marshfield Public Schools is important and valued. To further student voice throughout the district, I am happy to announce the formation of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC). The SSAC meets with the Superintendent monthly, and Assistant Superintendents and other leaders (when they are available) to advise, to provide feedback, and to present viable solutions on District initiatives and programs.
Our first three meetings were wonderful. We began to formulate a student voice survey, created community agreements for our work, got to know each other better, and looked at the role of this important team. In our third meeting, with the high school and middle school students, we talked about our cell phone policies and the current implementation of those policies at the middle and the high school. In our fourth meeting, we talked about school pride and safety.
At our meeting this past Tuesday, our younger advisory council members worked with our middle and high school members to talk about ways student voice is being heard throughout the district and to brainstorm ways we can expand voice for all. Great job, students!
GREAT LEARNING HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT
Our Learning Walks this year will revolve around Deep Student Engagement, Task Development, and Learning Environment for Students. The District Leader established look-fors are inspired by Amy Berry and her book Reimagining Student Learning, From Disrupting to Driving. This is a multi-year focus, which will involve all stakeholders.
In a nutshell, we will focus on those elements in the classroom that move students from disrupting to driving learning, while also focusing on the development of strong tasks to engage the students within a culturally responsive climate that promotes inclusion.
These lookfors are being unwrapped at staff meetings across the district. This week we engaged in learning walks of Daniel Webster and Governor Winslow.
