In this, our special, Seniors Edition of Connected, our Student Correspondent Kayla reflects on the past year of achievements for Gwinnett County Public Schools seniors and on her own journey as a student through GCPS.

Each month of the 2023-24 school year, we will spotlight one of our strategic priorities or Portrait of a Graduate competencies by sharing the stories of two clusters—highlighting their classrooms, notable events, community insights, achievements, community service projects, student organizations, volunteer efforts, and more.

GCPS students and staff listen actively to understand information, values, attitudes, and intentions. They articulate thoughts and ideas effectively using oral, written, and nonverbal communication skills; with the goal of being informative and clear about their purpose, and responsive and respectful of their audience.

In May, we focus on Communication in the Archer and Central Gwinnett clusters.

If your child will be five years old on or before September 1, 2024, you can register online now, and be entered into a drawing for cool learning prizes! Register early so your child can attend Rising K Academy, including summer transportation!

The Teaching Gwinnett Podcast is helping parents get their little ones ready to go to school for the first time! Kindergarten registration is now open, and Kim Holland, Gwinnett County Public Schools' executive director of Early Learning & School Readiness, stops by to share some helpful hints on how to navigate the registration process and what to expect once school starts in August! And don’t forget to stay until the end for another edition of Pop Quiz! Listen here to conquer Kindergarten!

Who needs to register? All incoming kindergarten students and all new students enrolling in Gwinnett County Public Schools. If you need help determining which school your child will attend, visit School Locator on the district website.

Where can I register my child? Student registration for the 2024-25 school year will take place online.

Do current students need to register for 2024-25? Current GCPS students who are moving will need to complete a change of status form. Students who are currently enrolled in a school under one of the conditions below will need to renew their form:

• Residency Affidavit

• Permissive Transfer

• Kinship Caregiver Affidavit

• Homeless

• Foster Care
