Notes from the Principal:
Weekly Update:
Dear Nanwalek Families and Friends,
This past week, our youngest learners have been working on improving their reading, sorting data, learning the days of the week and months of the year, and practicing their handwriting.
Our 3rd - 5th grade classroom has been enhancing their reading and writing skills, working on multiplication and division, and practicing cursive writing.
Our 6th-12th graders had an exciting week welcoming their new Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, Mr. Thomas Degray. He spent the week supporting them in their online classes and getting to know them. Mr. Degray shared that he is thrilled to take over their curriculum and become their in-person teacher. The life science and biology students are working on understanding cells, while the math classes are focusing on data (graphing and understanding graphs) and the algebra class is working on inequalities.
We also welcomed Sura Demas as our new Title I tutor! We are thrilled to have Sura on our staff.
First quarter is almost complete, and I want to express my sincere gratitude for the amazing support and help our community has provided during this first quarter of school. Our students are demonstrating remarkable growth!
We had Site Council elections last week, and as soon as all winners are contacted to confirm their acceptance, we will announce the new Site Council members. Remember, even if you are not a Site Council member, you are always welcome to attend the meetings and provide input.
We are also looking for community members to support and teach our students during Community and Culture Wednesdays. If you would like to help out, please contact Ms. Ann Evans or Ms. Desiree Swenning.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Penny Bearden-Brown
