Randy's News
Randolph Heights Elementary
Eagle Bluff
Once again, the 5th graders had a great time at Eagle Bluff Environmental Camp. Students spent three days and two nights at the camp and they had a blast! Learning about the environment, science, animal habitat and pushing themselves through the challenge of the high ropes course was once again the highlights of the trip. Bonding with classmates, teachers and chaperones was a great byproduct of the trip and everyone came home tired, but happy. We look forward to bringing next years 5th graders down to Lanesboro for the same experience.
Conferences
Fall conferences were held the last two weeks with parents and students coming in to talk with teachers about the great progress we are seeing in the start of the year. I would like to thank everyone again for being flexible with the conference schedule this year. Because of the election and Eagle Bluff, we had to spread conferences out over twelve days. I know it was all worth it at the end!

Winter Weather
With winter weather on the horizon, it is important for families to remember that students go outside for recess every day, unless the temperature is below zero. Please make sure students have winter clothing including boots, gloves or mittens, hats and snow pants. We have extra clothing for students, but it is important for students to come to the office in the morning if they need anything. Once lunches start, the office is short staffed and we may not be able to get the proper gear for students.
Attendance
Attendance matters. Please make sure students are in school everyday, on time. Studies have shown that one of the biggest factors of student success in school is their daily attendance. Our goal this year is to have over 85% of our students with consistent attendance. Ideally, students would miss less than 10 days during an entire year. We know this helps with their academics, but it is also very important for their social emotional growth during these early times. Ensuring students are here every day and on time will have a great impact on their success for their entire educational career.
