MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL VAN
Greetings Salemwood Families!
As always, please make sure to send your child in to school on time each day. If they are not feeling well, please help us by keeping them at home. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by the school or email me at vhuynh@maldenps.org. Thank you for entrusting us with your child...we are honored to be a part of their and your lives!

MCAS TESTING TIPS FOR CAREGIVERS
- Check the calendar below for your student's scheduled tests. Students in grades 3, 4, 6 and 7 will take Math and ELA only. Students in grade 5 will take ELA, Math and Science. Students in grade 8 will take ELA, Math, Science and pilot the Civics test (social studies).
- Be sure students get a good night's sleep: Make sure your student is able to get a good night's sleep before their test. This will help them concentrate and focus during the test.
- Start the day with breakfast. Encourage students to eat breakfast at home, or grab a breakfast here at the school. Either way, encourage them to fuel up before the test.
- Charge their Chromebook: For students in grades 5-8 who take their device home, be sure they charge their Chromebook the night before testing,
- Dress comfortably: Being comfortable during a test helps remove any distractions.
- Send them to school with a positive message: Help start their day with a positive outlook on their test day.
- Remind them to use their time wisely and use the strategies they learned in class: Students can take the whole school day to test, so they do not need to rush to finish. Remind them to read the directions carefully and to use what they've learned in class to help them during test time.

Arrival and Dismissal Notice
Parking at the Salemwood has always been a challenge.
If your plan is to leave the car to accompany your child to their line please note, there is no parking or drop off in the school parking lot. The spaces are reserved for staff so the teachers are able to welcome our students on time.
Please be mindful of our neighbors. Do not park in such a way as to block driveways to make the street impassable.
The Salemwood School does not have any elementary staff on duty prior to 8:10. Please do not drop off your little one early. Children are not allowed into the building before school as there is no one available to watch them.
Please note, there is no supervision before or afterschool on the school ground or playground
