Superintendent Community Update
Superintendent's Message
Dear JUHSD Community,
In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 20, all district sites will be closed.
This year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day theme, "Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence365," reminds us of the sustainable solutions Dr. King championed. This day serves as a time to celebrate the life, legacy, and profound impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., while also reminding us of the power of service in transforming our communities. Dr. King’s vision of equity, justice, and the "Beloved Community" continues to inspire us. As a National Day of Service, MLK Day calls us to action.
As Californians and partners in education, we have the unique opportunity to extend his legacy of compassion and service to those impacted by the devastating Southern California wildfires.

Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan in case of an emergency. It is critical for immigrant families to think ahead and set more concrete plans for immigration emergencies that can arise. See the Immigrant Legal Resource Center's Family Preparedness Plan.
Enrollment Period at JUHSD is Open - Don't Miss Out!
Incoming students and families, learn more about our schools and enroll now! We look forward to welcoming you in Fall 2025!
As we navigate the winter season, we’ve noticed an increase in the number of viruses circulating in our community, including colds, flu, and other illnesses. The health and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority, and we kindly ask for your partnership in keeping our school community safe and healthy.
Encouraging regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying up-to-date on vaccinations are additional steps we can all take to minimize the spread of illness.
Please take a moment to review our guidelines on when to keep your student home from school. These recommendations are designed to reduce the spread of illness and ensure everyone has the best chance to learn and thrive.
Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe and healthy environment for everyone in our community.

Westmoor High School
Yesterday afternoon WHS proudly hosted the 2nd TEDx event, themed "Navigating Through the Fog." The event brought together a dynamic lineup of eight speakers, including JUHSD Superintendent Presta, JUHSD past Board Trustee Kalimah Salahuddin, OHS student Avani Rajan, Stockton Unified Academy Senior Michael Lin, WHS student Maile Fastidio, WHS student Oscar Tran, teacher and author Dan Burchfield, and CEO Jenna Lange. Each speaker shared powerful insights and personal stories centered on resilience, innovation, and finding clarity amidst uncertainty.
The event was made possible through the dedication and leadership of WHS Advisor Mr. Kanno and the hard work of WHS students Ryan Chou, Bonnie Gregg, Zay Myat, and Gotzon Yiu. Their commitment to excellence and creativity made this milestone moment unforgettable.
Couldn’t make it? Don’t worry! Visit the WHS TEDx Instagram page to catch the video (coming soon) and experience the inspiration firsthand.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this incredible event!
Westmoor's STEMster Club is making a difference! Westmoor students brought fun, hands-on STEM lessons to a local elementary school, inspiring young minds to explore science, technology, engineering, and math. Together, we’re sparking curiosity and building brighter futures!"
