OLVCS Updates
December 19th, 2024
Dear OLVCS Families,
In preparing for my surgery, we made sure to get everything we were advised to, unfortunately, I also got a cough. My surgery has been postponed to a date to be determined, so I will be in school when we return in January.
Below is Diocesan information on the Jubilee Year which we are about to begin. The 2025 Jubilee will officially open on December 24, 2024 with the rite of Opening of the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. Peter by Pope Francis. It is usually the first door to be opened to indicate the beginning of the Holy Year. This is very exciting!
As we also prepare to light the 4th candle of the Advent wreath, we are reminded of God’s infinite love for us. May this time of preparation bring peace to your homes and joy to your hearts. Let us treasure the gift of faith, the warmth of family, and the blessings of our school community.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas, and a new year filled with grace and peace.
Make it a Great Day!
Samantha

Protecting God’s Children Training
Each year we are required to teach the diocesan Protecting God’s Children lesson. These lessons will take place during Religion class the week of January 13th.
Attached is an overview; and also an opt out form. Families can opt their children out of the lessons. Complete the form and return to your child’s teacher. During the lesson your child will come to the office. (you may also pick your child up if your prefer)
Here is more information from the diocese:
As caring adults, we have the great responsibility of ensuring the safety of children and youth. We must also give children and youth the tools they need to help us keep them safe by educating them regarding boundaries, safe and unsafe behaviors and healthy relationships.
The material is developmentally appropriate for each age group and includes content and activities that reinforce the message.
