Objective Sheets
All Students either received this week or will receive next week our Objective Sheet for the 2nd Nine-Weeks. This assignment will serve as the students' main Project Grade for the quarter. Each sheet has several objectives that they must pass off for a band director during the quarter. At the end of the quarter, each objective will count as a daily grade, and the objective sheet as a whole will count as a major grade. Objective sheets are due December 2nd for Advanced Bands and November 22nd for Beginner Band.
Advanced Band students will pass off objectives during class on Monday and Wednesday/Thursday. You can also email one video at a time to their respective band director. After receiving a pass or retry from your band director, you may resubmit or email another objective.
Beginner Band students will have a portion of class time on block days to pass off their objectives. You can also email your objectives to your band director or come immediately before school (8:00-8:08am) or after school (3:30-3:45) to pass off objectives
All Advanced Band students who complete the objective sheet by the due date are invited to attend our Reward Trip to see a movie at Cut! Cinemark on December 12th. (This trip will take place during a school day and is an additional cost to each student.)
All Beginner Band students who complete the objective sheet by the due date are invited to attend our Reward Trip to Pinstack on December 6th. (This trip will take place during a school day and is an additional cost to each student.)
Practice Records
All Students Received a new practice record this week. Week 2-2 is due TOMORROW, October 28th.
Practice Records are due Mondays with parent signature for full credit. They are accepted one day late (Tuesdays) for 10 points off. Practice records are not accepted after two days late (Wednesday or later.) The student will receive a zero (0) for that week's record. Beginner Band students must practice 140 minutes per week (the equivalent of 20 minutes/day.) Advanced Band students must practice 210 minutes per week (the equivalent of 30 minutes/day.) Extra credit is given for additional practice.
Private Lessons
Private lessons in a band class are essential for individual growth and overall ensemble success, especially when students study with professionals who hold advanced degrees in their instrument. These experts bring a wealth of experience and specialized knowledge, offering tailored instruction that addresses each student's unique strengths and areas for improvement. Such high-level guidance accelerates progress and refines technique, providing students with unparalleled opportunities to develop their skills. Studying with highly qualified professionals ensures that students receive the best possible instruction, significantly enhancing both their personal and collective performance in the band.
Students interested in Private Lessons should fill out the form below to sign up
Get Involved!!
If you would like to get involved with the Jones Band and have a significant impact on the students of this inaugural year, click the button below to indicate your interest in volunteering! This does not sign you up for a specific event, but rather shows your interest. One of the band directors or our Band Liaison, Cia McNair, will release posts in SportsYou for specific events. Thanks in advance for your support of the Jones Band and our great students!!!!
SportsYou

Beginner Band
Instruments at Home
At this point in the year, all beginning band student's instruments should come home every day. The expectation is that students are practicing every day for 20 minutes. Beginner Band is all about building good habits, and practicing daily at home is the most important habit we can build.
Playing Tests
All Beginner Band classes will start (or have started) playing tests in class. These playing tests are a way for us to give your student a formal assessment of the preparation and performance of a short song or exercise. Moving forward, students will have playing tests weekly, and the scores of these can be found in Skyward. We will give the students "chairs" or ranks following a playing test.
Students may make up any playing test up to a100 by re-recording the assignment and emailing it to their respective director. Make-ups can raise the students grade but not their chair order.
