Worthington Kilbourne Weekly News
Week of October 28, 2024
Dear Kilbourne Family,
It has been bittersweet watching our seniors compete in their last high school competitions. I know the time and effort they have put into their activities and sports has defined who they are and those experiences are coming to an end. Watching you with your senior on senior night is a really cool thing to witness. There are plenty of smiles and tears, and many of our parents reminisce and wonder how it went so fast. We love these moments knowing it means a great deal to our parents and our students.
We ask our students to "Commit to be Involved," because we know how important clubs, activities, and sports are to the physical, mental, and social development of young people. The seniors that are exiting the field for the final time, we say to them, "THANK YOU!" We try to promote our students and programs and we've been running a new(ish) Instagram page. We would love to have more people follow and interact with us, especially for promoting our seniors: IG: @wkhswolves
Respectfully,
Aric Thomas, Principal / athomas@wscloud.org / 614-450-6400 / X: @AricThomas1

HEY SOPHOMORES -- looking for a great opportunity to learn about your leadership style and connect with leaders around the state? If so, the HOBY LEADERSHIP SEMINAR is for you! Visit the Counselors Website for details and application. One student from WKHS will be selected to attend and your $275 registration fee will be paid by the District. Deadline to apply is November 4, 2024. Please see your counselor with questions.
Trick-or-Canning event and school Canned Food Drive
The WKHS Student Council will be continuing the annual tradition this year with our Trick-or-Canning event and school Canned Food Drive. Members of the Student Council will be canvassing many of our WKHS neighborhoods during the evening of October 31 asking for canned food instead of candy. If you receive a flyer prior to Halloween informing you of their impending visit, please consider leaving food donations out on your front steps to be picked up. No glass containers, please! The pantry has expressed high need for cereal, canned soups, canned pastas, peanut butter, Rice-a-Roni, and shampoo.
Since we do not have the personnel to canvas every neighborhood, if we do not visit you and you wish to make a donation, you may send it in to the school with your student any time between October 29 and November 6.
WKHS Bands Fall Concert Program / Our American Voice
Red Cross Blood Drive / Tuesday, October 29th in the WKHS Aux Gym
Club Biomed and the Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, October 29th in the WKHS aux gym. Our Red Cross representative has told us that after the recent hurricanes they had to cancel many drives, and of course the need for blood only increases during times of natural disasters. Each donation we can get from our drive helps! Students who are 16 or older can donate, and all donors need a valid driver's license to donate.
Go to redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code “Kilbourne” to sign up to donate during one of your off periods. 16-year-olds need to get a permission form from Mrs. Davis (Room 245) or Student Services in order to donate! You can save a life!
Seniors: Pursue an internship
Seniors are encouraged to participate in Senior Project: an opportunity for eligible seniors to focus for one month on a career internship, service learning project, or research project from April 14 - May 9, 2025.

For more information on internships, our calendar, or becoming a mentor, email: jstubenrauch@wscloud.org and visit the Senior Project website.
Perry Middle School is seeking 6th grade camp counselors

Perry is looking for mature, service-oriented high school students who would enjoy working with middle school students and might benefit from this experience on their resume, college applications, NHS application, service hours for Government class, or any place where leadership and service are encouraged.
Please fill out this online application ASAP if you are interested in helping with this volunteer opportunity. Any questions? Email Perry Middle School Assistant Principal, Mr. Ken Nally: knally@wscloud.org

School Pictures and Student ID
Download your digital ID now
We are now providing digital IDs for students! The image can be saved to a mobile device for use throughout the school year. Students should scan this QR code to retrieve their ID image. They will need to use their last name and their student ID number to access their Digital ID (your ID number is available through Infinite Campus.) Images can be sent via email or text.
These IDs are needed when students enter the building during the school day if they arrive after the start time (8:40 a.m.). A student shows their ID to the attendance office before entering the building so we can verify they are a WK student. They also need their school ID to attend extracurricular activities such as school dances and to enter any home athletic events.
PARENTS: Complete your annual Emergency Data Review (REQUIRED)
To update this information please sign into your parent "PORTAL LOGIN" by scrolling down on the NEW Worthington Kilbourne webpage. If you have forgotten your ID and password, you can easily retrieve them by going to the Password Recovery Link on the Worthington Schools Web Page.
