Falcon Flyer
Week of 11/4/24
Principal's Messaage
Dear Falcon Families,
We had a wonderful Red Ribbon Week, wrapping up with our Costume Parade and an all-red/skeleton day to say “no” to drugs! It was truly special to see so many of you on campus for the parade. In the days leading up to the event, costumes were all the students could talk about! A big thank you to everyone who contributed decorations for our beautiful Día de los Muertos altar. If your items were labeled or you requested their return, they’ll be sent home by the end of the week.
This Thursday, November 7th, the Community Schools Steering Committee will visit Otay as part of the next steps toward becoming a Community School, which would provide more funding, more support, and more resources for our community.
Please remember to inform our office staff about any medical conditions, injuries, or doctor’s notes for your child so we can be fully prepared to support them.
Lastly, our PTA Sponsored Family Movie Night is on Friday, 11/15. Save the date. We look forward to seeing you there!

P.S. Don’t forget to adjust your clocks for Daylight Savings Time!
Attendance
Attendance Matters
Congratulations to Mrs. Lopez's K/1st grade class-their average for the week was slightly over 98%.
Schoolwide our average was 91%! I know we can do better. Regular attendance is the foundation for academic success. Together we soar!
The Learning Pit
Continue to ask your child daily: Did you get into the Learning Pit? At Otay, we encourage students to use a growth mindset to face challenges, have a go at something new, try with a willingness to be confused or make mistakes along the way, and to persist in problem solving.

Friendly Reminders
Together we soar! #Partnership
- For safety reasons, students must wear flat, close-toed shoes
- Every minute of instruction counts. If your child forgets snack, lunch, or water, do not worry. Second Chance and lunch will be provided. They also have access to water fountains. We kindly ask that you refrain from dropping off any items. Let’s work together to help our falcons build responsibility.
- Please note that if your child is not picked up on time at dismissal, you'll need to sign them out from the office.
