Dear Atkinson Parents,

We are proud of our school. Our students, staff, and families make Atkinson a great place to learn and grow. These yard signs communicate to neighborhood parents of future students that they can trust their neighborhood school. Thank you, PTA for providing these at no cost to families. If you haven't already picked up your yard sign, please come by the office to grab one or reach out to president@atkinsonpta.org to find a way to get one. Let's show our Atkinson Spirit!

We will be adding a bell at 8:37 a.m. to alert students to line up. The 8:40 a.m. bell will be when students will begin entering the building. This will be a practice that we will have next year with an early bell ringing at 7:55 a.m. and another at 8 a.m.

Keep up the good work on student attendance! We will award the Cheetah Attendance Awards again next week to the classes with the best overall attendance.

Thank you, Atkinson community, for all your generous donations to the Fund for Portland Public Schools as we strive to collect the amount needed to have Ms. Katie full time at Atkinson next year. We are almost there! We've raised enough for a 0.9 Ms. Katie, so let's make that final push and get to the 1.0 Ms. Katie! To that end, we've extended the deadline for sponsors to fulfill their pledges to Friday, May 31. Use a credit or debit card to contribute ONLINE at fundforpps.org/donate. Select the "Donate to a Specific School or Program" button, then use the "Purpose" menu to select Atkinson Elementary School. In addition, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your online communities on Facebook and Instagram. Let's get the 1.0 Ms. Katie to Atkinson!

Tuesday, May 28, is Field Day (BEST DAY EVER!) If you would like to help out on this fabulous fun day, please sign up on the Field Day document. The more help, the better! Station descriptions and expectations are linked in the sign-up sheet. Please contact me if you have any questions!

The Successful Schools Survey is an opportunity for students, staff, and families to provide important feedback on their school environments, learning experiences, and sense of well-being and safety at school. The survey is conducted once every school year to provide timely information to schools, district leadership, and the community, allowing us to make informed decisions about school climate and culture. This year, the survey window is open May 6–31.

You can complete the Successful Schools Survey online using the link provided below. Please complete one survey per household. If you have more than one student at PPS, we ask that you complete the survey considering the experiences of your eldest child.

The survey will take approximately 15–30 minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese and Chinese.
