Clark Weekly News (8/30/24)
We are so glad you're here!
No School Monday in honor of Labor Day
Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.
Take some time to enjoy the day off!
New News or Needs Repeated
Bathroom reminder: We need to be careful what, and how much at once, we are flushing down the toilets. Please remember: No Paper towels, No garbage, No feminine hygiene products (at all).
If you need “a certain amount” of toilet paper, that is fine. But flush between use, so that the amount of toilet paper does not clog the plumbing. We have two significant clogs this week. Last year we had to close a stall for quite some time to fix the issue. We’d like to avoid that.
Interested in a carpool? There's a student looking to catch a ride after block 4 west on Kanner by Cracker Barrel. Parent is willing to offer gas money. A family in Sewalls Point is also looking for a carpool. Email ljudd@irsc.edu if you go that way and we'll get you in touch with the parents.
Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10. Remember, this is NOT meet the teacher. These time slots are reserved for academic concerns only. The sign up link was sent from Dr. Bonds earlier this week. email dbonds@irsc.edu with questions.
**AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY** to the upstairs unless you have a specific reason to be there:
- **Attending a Class**
- **Visiting Mr. Watson**
- **Going to the Clinic (Room 218)**
Parking passes ordered this week are ready in the front office. Warnings are being issued.
Almost all textbooks and codes have arrived. It is your responsibility to come to the front office and get what you need for your college classes.
Honor Roll and Level 5 assessment certificates are available at the front desk for any students who missed the assembly.
Gratitude and Celebration!
Our first monthly assembly was held Wednesday and we were thrilled to recognize Cecilia Sauer for the student of the month for the pillar of Fairness from last May. We also recognized many students for "All A" and "All As and Bs" honor roll, as well as the students who earned a level 5 on any state testing last spring. Many students were at college classes and not pictured, but we are so #ClarkProud of our students and the efforts they put in daily to grow and achieve. Check out all the photos on our social media pages.
Thanks to the family of Cason Sweeney for the camera donations for photography class!
Way to go Wednesday- we want to shout out Kat Watkins for her organization and leadership in getting flyers made and ready for multiple clubs, as well as helping with Wreaths Across America. We appreciate your leadership and look forward to having all students involved in clubs and service opportunities.
Many thanks to our newest Adopt a Class sponsors- Elena Barral. We are still seeking sponsors to help fund classroom supplies and opportunities. In fact, Mrs. Haynes would LOVE to take some of her science students into the "wild" for environmental research but needs some extra funding... hint hint...
