A Message from Ms. Cruz
Welcome to Week 24!
Happy February! Punxsutawney Phil has spoken, and with his shadow sighting, we’re in for 6 more weeks of winter. Be sure to remind your student that if they bring a jacket to school, they need to take it home with them at the end of the day! Our Lost and Found is located in the cafeteria and is available for students to check before or after school, or during lunch.
This week, we’re thrilled to kick off Baseball by the Books for our 3rd through 6th grade students! Our special guest will be visiting to help launch this exciting literacy initiative. Over the next 6 weeks, our teachers will work with students to set personalized reading goals, and those who complete the program will earn two free tickets to a selected Ports game! For more details, click here.
Let’s encourage our students to read and have fun with this program!
Have a great week, Davis Tigers! Go to Davis, Go to College!
Our Tiger Tenets :

Special Education Parent Training Series
Annual State Testing
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support. Your child may be taking one or more of the following:
- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website. Please select the Annual Notification of Testing, 2024-2025 link.
i-Ready Diagnostic Results: A Pathway to Your Child's Success
We are excited to inform you that your children have recently completed reading and math diagnostics through i-Ready, an adaptive assessment program by Curriculum Associates. These diagnostics are designed to identify your child's strengths and areas for growth in these crucial subjects. We believe that this valuable data will help us tailor our instructional approach to better support your child's academic journey.
To review your child's data and gain insights into their performance, we invite you to access the flyer provided at the following link:

CALIFORNIA'S DAYLIGHTING LAW AB 413
We are excited to announce our collaboration with the City of Lodi to help raise awareness about California’s new traffic law, AB 413. This legislation introduces important changes at improving road safety and ensuring responsible driving practices across the state.
As a community, it’s vital that we stay informed about laws that impact our daily lives. AB 413 prohibits the stopping, standing, or parking of a vehicle within 20 feet of the vehicle approach side of any marked or unmarked crosswalk or within 15 feet of any crosswalk where a curb extension/bulbout is present, whether or not the curb is painted red. This is a safety measure known as “Daylighting”. Effective January 2025, the rules will be applied whether or not the curb is painted red.

Chromebooks
Chromebooks are essential tools for learning in the classroom, used for various applications and tasks. To ensure students have access to the necessary resources, it is expected that students bring their fully charged Chromebooks to school each day. Please note that there is a limited number of loaner devices available. If your student has lost or damaged their Chromebook, please notify their teacher as soon as possible so that the device can be repaired or replaced.
More information about Chromebooks and the Chromebook Care Plan can be found by clicking here.
New National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988 (K-12)
We want to inform you about the 988 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a new, free, 24/7 helpline for anyone in emotional distress or facing a mental health crisis. If you or your child ever need support, simply call or text 988 or call 1-800-273-8255 to connect with trained professionals who can help.
This is an important resource for your family’s well-being. Please save this number.
Volunteering
Adults interested in volunteering in their student's classroom or chaperoning a field trip will need to complete the Volunteer Request Form and be fingerprinted. Please connect with your student's teacher to determine volunteer opportunities. We are currently seeking volunteers to support in supervision of students during lunch between 10:30 am - 1:00 pm. If you are available, please contact the office or scan the QR code.
Morning Dropoff
Please remember that the front gate does not open until 7:40 am as there is no supervision for students prior to this time. It is important that students come to school dressed appropriately, including wearing school-appropriate shoes. If your student comes to school in Crocs or sandals, they will be asked to sit out PE and may not go in the barkbox or onto the fields during recess due to safety concerns.
Students who wish to eat breakfast in the cafeteria should arrive no later than 7:45 am. For students arriving by bus, please proceed immediately to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared out 15 minutes after the latest bus arrives to ensure that students do not miss instructional time.
Lunch Options For The Week
Picking Students Up
Please remember that if your student has not yet been dismissed and you are in the loading zone, staff will be asking you to park or loop around to allow other parents to load their students who are waiting. We also ask that you model safe behaviors and use the crosswalk. Our Tigers know this is a Tiger Tenet and a way to be safe!
We thank you for your patience and for working with our staff to ensure dismissal occurs smoothly.
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
If your student will be out, be sure to call the office at 209-953-8301 to report your their absence. Students who have a medical or dental appointment will need to bring a note from their doctor upon their return.
Additionally, it is important your student arrives on time, ready to learn. School starts at 8:00 am and students are expected to be in their classes at this time.
