Principal's Update
Tēnā koutou katoa
Ngā mihi nui, kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to you all.
What an awesome turn out last week for Fancy Dress Friday. It was such a great day creating fun school memories. Thank you to our amazing school parents - we know that those costumes don't happen without your support.
We are very excited to share our production - Robin in da Hood - next week with our school families. The children and staff have worked very hard with Patrice from Gobsmacked to produce an amazing show. The production is part our Arts Curriculum and provides an opportunity for our learners to experience all aspects of putting on a full stage performance. For some it will be the absolute highlight of their schooling this year and for others it will be a real challenge and the experience could be well outside of their comfort zone, just as mathematics, literacy and sports can be for other students. We are very proud of all students and their efforts, this will be a memory that will last a lifetime. Tickets can still be purchased on School Shop (Kindo) or directly from the school office. When purchasing through School Shop, kept the response email as that will be your ticket on the night. There are no allocated seats.

MH4 welcomed Bela and Hemvati to TPS in Week 5 to learn about the Diwali Festival. The students watched the captivating Ramayan pastime and enjoyed learning more about the message of Diwali and what lighting a diya (light) could mean to their lives. Rangoli art was created with coloured powders on the classroom floor. Each student received a free coloured diya, thanks to our local Indian grocery store DH at Fraser Cove.

End of Year assemblies. Fortunately for us (unlucky for basketball fans) the Memorial Hall (QEII) is now available for our School Awards Assembly. Earlier in the year we were unable to book this venue as it was meant to be decommissioned by Term 4.
- 10th December - School Awards Assembly - certificates for Year 1-5 students, 9:30am at Memorial Hall.
- 16th December - Year 6 Leavers Assembly - awards for Year 6 students only, 9:30am at Holy Trinity Church, followed by a shared morning tea and Year 6 item back at TPS.

I have been contacted by Cedar Manor, our school neighbour on 6th Avenue. They are very concerned by the number of parents parking across their service driveway as this is impacting staff entering for shifts, food deliveries etc. This is an ongoing issue; please be respectful of the road rules and our school neighbours' rights when dropping and picking up your children. The traffic wardens have been asked to monitor this situation and ticket drivers as necessary.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lately we have noticed a number of junior school parents entering the school site from as early as 2:20pm each day. Junior children are busy learning until 2:50pm. Parents outside classes, preschoolers playing on the playground and at times entering classrooms can be disruptive and distracting. It is very challenging to keep children focused on the task at hand when this is happening. We respectfully request that parents don't enter the junior school site until 2:45pm for school pick ups. If you do find yourself at school early, the playground by the school pool on the senior site is a good location for preschoolers to have a supervised play until 2:45pm, and you will not distract children in classes.

Last week we farewelled Mr Tom, our caretaker. Tom is now enjoying a well deserved break from working, spending time with his family and working on his classic cars. We are very grateful for all the hard work and care Tom has put into our school site, we are often complimented on the condition of our school site and this is due to his efforts. Thank you for everything you have contributed to TPS Mr Tom.
A very warm welcome to students who have recently started at TPS Vihasna and Devmin Perera, Zoya Narayan, Uthman Khan, Perrie Helem, Lottie Krysmanski, Harry Cleaver, Enzo Barsanti and Buwani Nishshankage. It is great to have you and your whānau joining our TPS team.
