Dear families,
Can you believe it's almost May? It seems like we were just welcoming our new kindergarten students at Kindergarten Round Up yesterday. π Speaking of our kindergarten and first grade students - we are SO proud of all of their hard work - along with their teacher and your help - on their PM 3 testing! πππππ
We are ready for 2nd grade testing this week! Please make sure your child gets to school on-time and eats a great breakfast before school. Let's go, 2nd grade!!
I hope everyone who participated in Take Your Child to Work Day had fun! I know I had a busy day with my daughter. π
Congratulations to Senora Kupferman and the 5th graders who brought home many first and second place medals in the District's World Languages Competition! π₯π₯
On Thursday, we hosted a small recognition ceremony in honor of Mr. Ivan Obolensky, who graciously donated money to our school. We have used the money to make much needed upgrades to our Library and purchase technology - including the Promethean boards in classrooms! We are so incredibly thankful for his generosity.
Have a great week!!!
Mrs. Kasdhin & Ms. Gordon

π Important School Reminders π
πββοΈVolunteers
In order to volunteer on campus, including helping at class parties, you MUST be an approved volunteer. You need to fill out the application yearly. Please apply today at browardschools.com/volunteer.
πEarly Dismissals
Per School Board Policy, no student dismissals can take place between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. Please be mindful that like tardies, minutes students miss school can add up to full days missed. Please reserve picking up students early for emergencies.
πChange of Dismissal
All changes of dismissal must be made through CurbSmart by 1:00 pm. To create a parent account, you will need our school code 5305.
β°Tardies
Students must be in their seats at 8:00 AM and ready to learn. Starting 8/26/2024, students not in their seats at 8:00 AM will receive a tardy. An accumulation of tardy minutes may lead to full day absences. It is Florida State Law that all students must be in school every day.
πSnack
Snack time is a daily part of our schedules. A snack is a small amount of food eaten between meals. Students may bring in a hand-held item like crackers, a bag of chips, string cheese or a piece of fruit. Items that require a utensil or dipping will be saved for lunch. We strongly encourage healthy snacks for our students.
πBirthdays
A childβs birthday is a very special time. We afford parents the option to provide a treat such as store-bought cupcakes or an individually wrapped snack for the class to celebrate this special day. However, we do not accept goody bags or balloons in the classroom. Please no balloons. Please no siblings under 18. π
πͺToys
With the generous donation of recess equipment from HSA, students have everything they could want or need for recess. Please do not allow children to bring in any outside toys, cards, or items from home that can distract from their learning.
πUniforms
We are a uniform school and uniforms must be worn daily. Our school uniform is a solid red or white collared polo and solid navy bottoms. Students may also wear a solid navy dress. Harbordale T-Shirts are reserved for Fridays only. Students must also wear closed-toed shoes daily. Please no black or khaki.
π§Items from Home
Items forgotten and brought in late to school (lunchboxes, sweaters, water bottles) will brought to students during lunch time to minimize classroom disruptions.
π·Absences
If a student is absent due to a vacation, a special event, etc., assignments will not be available in advance. All missed worked will be provided upon returning to class. Students will be given 2 days for every day absent to complete the assignments. Please notify the front office via our online form, written note, or phone. DOJO notifications to classroom teacher will not excuse any absences. Click the link below to report your child's absence:
Thank you, Ms. Olson and the ESE Team, for the great Autism Awareness activity!
