8th Grade Celebration and Graduation Information
The graduation planning committee continues the preparation for graduation. Please take a moment to review the information below. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the school office.

As we approach the end of an exciting and memorable school year, we are thrilled to celebrate our 8th grade students and all they have accomplished!
We are happy to announce that our 8th Grade Graduation Dance will be held on Friday, May 30th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This special event will take place at school and is free of charge for all graduating 8th graders.
Please note, this event is only for WCMS 8th grade students. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate semi-formal attire as they enjoy an evening of music, food, dancing, and fun with their classmates. This dance is a time to celebrate friendships, memories, and the journey ahead as they prepare for high school.
***A medida que nos acercamos al final de un año escolar emocionante e inolvidable, ¡estamos encantados de celebrar a nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado y todo lo que han logrado!
Nos complace anunciar que el Baile de Graduación de Octavo Grado se llevará a cabo el viernes 30 de mayo de 6:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. Este evento especial se realizará en la escuela y será gratuito para todos los estudiantes de octavo grado que se gradúan.
Por favor tenga en cuenta que este evento es únicamente para los estudiantes de octavo grado de WCMS. Se anima a los estudiantes a usar vestimenta semi-formal apropiada mientras disfrutan de una noche de música, comida, baile y diversión con sus compañeros. GRADUATION DATE: June 11th at 7:30 p.m. at Winston Middle School
Student Report Time: 7:00 p.m.
At the end of the graduation ceremony, please remember to pick up your student’s folder, which will include their diploma and any last-minute documents or important information.
***FECHA DE GRADUACIÓN: 11 de junio a las 7:30 p.m. en la Escuela Secundaria Winston Hora de Los Estudiantes deben pesentarse a las: 7:00 p.m.

Graduation Practice/Práctica de Graduación:
Below are tentative dates for graduation practice/A continuación, se presentan las fechas tentativas para la práctica de graduación:
June 9th
8th Grade students will have their first graduation practice after lunch during 8th and 9th period.
June 10th
8th grade students will participate in some fun trivia activities first and second period, followed by practice. During the afternoon we will have yearbook signing and some other activities for our 8th grade students.

June 11th
8th grade students will have practice in the morning along with awards before their half-day dismissal. 8th Graders will attend school on this day until 10:35 am. On this day is where they will receive their graduation gown and tickets. All 8th graders MUST attend.

8TH Grade Activity Fee
There is a graduation fee of $20.00 that will cover the cost of the trip and lunch the day of the trip. You may write a check to Community Consolidated School District 15 or you may pay cash. first period teachers will be collecting this fee in May. We ask that you place your cash/check in an envelope with your child's name. This is different from the district fee. We will send more information regarding consent forms for the fieldtrip and money as the event date gets closer.
***Hay una cuota de graduación de $20.00 que cubrirá el costo del viaje y el almuerzo el día del viaje. Pueden hacer un cheque a Community Consolidated School District 15 o pueden pagar en efectivo. Los maestros de primer período recolectarán esta cuota en mayo. Les pedimos que coloquen su dinero en efectivo/cheque en un sobre con el nombre de su hijo/a. Graduation signs will be provided for our graduates that wish to buy them. The cost for each graduation sign will be $7.00. The school will email parents when they are ready to be picked up. This can be expected sometime in May. Given the signs and the metal posts can be a hazard for students to transport on the bus, parents/guardians must come to school to pick up their yard sign. We ask that you place your cash/check in an envelope with your child's name. This is different from the district fee.

***Se proporcionarán carteles de graduación para aquellos graduados que deseen comprarlos. El costo de cada cartel de graduación será de $7.00. La escuela enviará un correo electrónico a los padres cuando estén listos para ser recogidos. Esto se espera que sea en algún momento de mayo. Dado que los carteles y los postes de metal pueden ser un peligro para que los estudiantes los transporten en el autobús, los padres/tutores deben venir a la escuela a recoger su letrero de jardín. This year our 8th grade students will attend MAIN EVENT for their 8th grade trip. This event will take place on June 3rd. Students will be chaperoned by Winston teachers. This trip will include lunch for the students. We will be sending home permission slips three weeks prior to this event and all students must have a signed permission slip to attend the week before the event. We wish for all of our students to participate in our end of year celebrations. Students must have a minimum 8th grade cumulative (all subjects, all year) GPA of 1.0 to participate in graduation celebrations. Permission slips will be sent home in late April, early May.
*** Este año, nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado asistirán a MAIN EVENT para su excursión de octavo grado. Este evento se llevará a cabo el 3 de junio. Los estudiantes serán acompañados por maestros de Winston. Este viaje incluirá el almuerzo para los estudiantes. Enviaremos a casa los permisos tres semanas antes de este evento y todos los estudiantes deben tener un permiso firmado para asistir una semana antes de el evento. Deseamos que todos nuestros estudiantes participen en nuestras celebraciones de fin de año. Graduation Expectations
As a reminder from our Parent/Student Handbook, participation in graduation and end-of-the-year activities is a privilege, not a right, so our 8th-grade students will need to meet the following requirements in order to participate:
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.0 for all subjects for the 4th quarter.
Students must maintain an appropriate attitude and positive behavior during the school year. The administration reserves the right to remove any student from participating in graduation activities and/or the ceremony due to behavior infractions.
Students must be up to date with payment of all required fines and fees.
Students on probation may not have a U in the fourth quarter.
At the discretion of the principal or assistant principal, a student may be placed on probation at the mid-term point (Monday, May 12, 2025) of the fourth quarter if the student has displayed a lack of academic effort or if their behavior warrants it. Should you have any concerns about your students meeting these expectations, please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers, clinicians, or administrators. Como recordatorio de nuestro Manual para Padres/Estudiantes, la participación en la graduación y las actividades de fin de año es un privilegio, no un derecho, por lo que nuestros estudiantes de 8º grado deberán cumplir con los siguientes requisitos para participar:
Los estudiantes deben tener un promedio de calificaciones (GPA) acumulativo mínimo de 1.0 en todas las materias para el cuarto trimestre.
Los estudiantes deben mantener una actitud apropiada y un comportamiento positivo durante el año escolar. La administración se reserva el derecho de excluir a cualquier estudiante de participar en las actividades de graduación y/o la ceremonia debido a infracciones de conducta.
Los estudiantes deben estar al día con el pago de todas las multas y tarifas requeridas.
Los estudiantes en período de prueba no pueden tener una "U" (insatisfactorio) en el cuarto trimestre.
A discreción de la directora o subdirector, un estudiante puede ser puesto en período de prueba en el punto medio del trimestre (lunes, 12 de mayo de 2025) del cuarto trimestre si el estudiante ha mostrado falta de esfuerzo académico o si su comportamiento lo justifica. Si tiene alguna inquietud sobre el cumplimiento de estas expectativas por parte de sus estudiantes, no dude en comunicarse con los maestros, clínicos o administradores.
