FEBRUARY NEWS
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
One of my favorite things to do with students each month is what we call, 'Principal's Read Aloud." Each month, all the students in a grade come into the Cougar Den and we spend 1/2 hour together. To prepare for this each month, I take our monthly theme that corresponds with our school counselors message, and I share a book, and other inspirational ideas that match the theme. We have talked about goal setting, having resilience, using kind words, and we always talk about sticking our necks out to help someone. We make connections between mistakes we make and moving forward. Students learn that making mistakes is part of life, we learn how to be patient when mistakes are made, and ultimately how to be kind with ourselves and others. We learn that words, both written and spoken have power to build or destroy. We learn about patience, kindness and doing our best, even when it is hard. Perhaps, as I watch and listen to students responses, I learn the most. You have incredible students, thanks for sending them our way!

CAUGHT YOU CARING WEEK
DROP OFF AND PICK UP
THANK YOU! Our school is just nestled right at the top of the hill....with limited access to the school, and limited access out of the school. Additionally, several of our students are dropped off and picked up. Your patience in getting our students to school safely and home safely is appreciated. As I have observed our traffic flow problem, I wonder, like many of you, how to streamline it better. I do know that pulling all the way forward when there is a vacancy ahead of you streamlines this procedure. Additionally, if possible, have your students enter your vehicle curb side, this limits the possibility of an accident in the road. Weather permitting, if possible, have students cross the main cross walk and meet you down the street away from the traffic at the school. It requires patience for about 7 minutes, and then our parking lot is empty! We appreciate your support and help.
