Principal's Message
Assalam Aleikum!
Dear NISL Families,
NorthWest Area Health Education Center (NW AHEC) is inviting our students who will be in Grades 6-12 next year and who are interested in pursuing careers in health care to sign up for the Healthwise Summer Program!
The Healthwise summer program application is now open. This program is uniquely designed to provide an enriching experience for students eager to explore health careers while also enhancing their academic skills.
Healthwise offers students a chance to dive into subjects such as mathematics, anatomy & physiology, biology, chemistry, as well as reading and writing. The curriculum is structured to provide a well-rounded educational experience that helps students build a strong foundation for future academic success. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to engage with numerous healthcare and public health professionals. Throughout the program, students will also engage in hands-on activities, public health projects, tours to different universities and local healthcare facilities. This exposure will provide them with a deeper understanding of the careers in the healthcare industry and how to get there.
The program will take place from June 2nd – June 27th at Grace M. James Academy of Excellence, located at 1615 West Broadway Louisville, KY 40203. The program has a $25 fee to help cover insurance costs for participants. If this proposes a financial hardship, please contact Hanna Mohammed or Bradley Coffman by calling 502-778-1607. Their primary goal is to provide access to this rewarding experience for all students regardless of their inability to pay.
We encourage all interested students to apply now and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity. The program is designed to help students discover their passion for careers in the health sciences while developing key skills that will benefit them along the way.
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
Principal

Thanking NISL's Hardworking Custodian!
A Small Gift of Appreciation for Our Hardworking Custodian, Mr. Daniel Diaz
As we approach the end of Ramadan, I'd like to invite our school community to come together to show appreciation for Mr. Daniel Diaz, our dedicated and hard working custodian who has been with us for 6 years.
He has been working tirelessly, often late into the night, ensuring that our school remains clean and secure—especially during this blessed month, constantly adjusting his schedule around after-school events, masjid activities, and Taraweeh prayers. He cleans the entire center, the school, daycare, and masjid and never takes a day off!
To express our gratitude, we are asking each student and staff member from school and daycare to bring just $1 each. If everyone contributes, we can collect $200-$300 to present him with a thoughtful gift of appreciation before Eid.
Please send $1 CASH ONLY (or more if you’d like!) with your child by next Wednesday March 26, and let’s make sure Mr. Daniel knows how much we value his hard work and dedication.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your kindness and generosity!
Support NISL Students at MIST!
For the first time ever, a team from Louisville—including 9 of our NISL high school students alongside other Muslim students from local public schools—is heading to MIST Nashville on April 18-20, 2025!
This is an incredible opportunity for them to showcase their talents in academics, arts, and leadership while proudly representing our community. Two of our teachers, Sr. Aisha Taylor and Sr. Wisal Alabdalla will be traveling with them as assistant coaches and supervisors.
Our students need your help to cover transportation and lodging costs. Even $1 can make a difference in helping them achieve their dreams. Please consider donating and sharing this effort with others. Every bit of support means the world to these young leaders of our ummah!
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for investing in the future of our youth!
Your Opinion Counts!
We still need your feedback! If you haven’t completed the Cognia Parent Survey and CISNA Islamic Identity Parent Survey, please take a few minutes to do so by March 28.
Your responses are anonymous and directly impact school improvement.
Surveys are available in English and Arabic (use Google browser translation feature for other languages).
Our goal is 100% family participation!
Your voice matters, and we truly appreciate your time and support in shaping the future of NISL.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your partnership in making our school even better!
