Pleasantdale IS Better Together
Dear Pleasantdale Middle School Families,
It's hard to believe we are in May already! As we are in the last month of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to emphasize the importance of finishing strong. These last few weeks are crucial for academic success and overall growth. Here are a few points to consider:
- Stick to your Routine: It can be tempting to relax routines, but consistency is key. Encourage your child to stick to their study schedule, bedtime routines, and healthy habits.
- Stay Engaged: Check in with your child regularly about their schoolwork.
- Celebrate Achievements: Acknowledge your child's accomplishments throughout the year, no matter how big or small. Positive reinforcement boosts confidence and motivation.
- Encourage Self-care: A healthy balance is essential for their well-being.
- Emphasize Perseverance: Remind your child that challenges are a natural part of the learning process. Encourage them to persevere through difficulties and seek help when needed.
- Plan Ahead: Encourage them to prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively.
Additional informational items:
Now that Spring has finally arrived (for the moment anyway), please be mindful of what your student is wearing to school. Please see information about our dress code here.
Attendance - While we know that there are valid reasons for students to be absent, there are many times that students stay home but are able to attend school.
Please do not text or call your child on their cell phone during the day, their cell phones should be off and away during the day. If you need to get a message to them, please call the office. Students will receive a disciplinary consequence if they are caught using their phone even if it is a text from a parent.
Thank you for your partnership and please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Jeanine Arundel
Proud Principal of Pleasantdale Middle School

Students receive Tiger Stripes when they meet our "I"s of the Tiger. (I am Respectful, I am Responsible, I am Safe).
This week we will focus on appropriate behavior in our classrooms. Students will receive Tiger Stripes for:
- Being Respectful
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Listen carefully when others speak.
- Be considerate and show kindness.
- Participate in discussions appropriately.
- Being Responsible
- Be on time and ready to learn.
- Bring all needed materials to class.
- Follow directions and classroom routines.
- Do quality work.
- Being Safe
- Stay in your own personal space and respect other's personal space.
- Use materials and equipment appropriately.
We have been reviewing our interventions we have tried for tardies and tech violations and noticed they have not been successful. For the third trimester, if students receive more than 3 tardies to school or tech violations, it may result in after school detentions.

Tiger Tip-Line
Pleasantdale Middle School Tiger Tip-Line
While it is always best to talk directly to a staff member, we understand that sometimes this can be uncomfortable or difficult for students or parents. At Pleasantdale Middle School, we offer the Tiger Tip-Line as an anonymous tool for reporting unsafe, uncomfortable, or unkind behaviors and situations. We explicitly teach the students that if they ever see something or hear something that makes them feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or is unkind, either online or in person, they should tell a “trusted adult” which could be parents, school personnel, or other adults in their lives.
If you are reporting because someone did something unsafe, unkind, made someone uncomfortable, or you want the negative behavior to stop, this is not snitching, tattling, or narcing. This is doing what is right. Telling an adult so that they can intervene and help you make our school safer for everyone is doing what is right.
The Tiger Tip-Line can be accessed here.

Just A Dash Lunch Information
Our Cafe is cashless so you will need to add money to your student's account (see below). We will be offering the hot lunch meal, milk and some a la carte items. This is a good time to check your child's account balance for lunch. Students who do not have money on their account will not be able to purchase a la carte items.
The cost for lunch is $3.60 (which includes milk) and the cost for milk only is $.30. An extra entree is $2.95. A la carte items will also be available for sale. These items (chips, bars, fruit snacks...) range in price from $0.75 to $1.75.
Skyward’s Food Service Module allows families to view students' food service account balances, view daily purchase information, make online payments, apply for free and reduced benefits, and set limits to the daily a la carte purchases. Check out how to set a daily a la carte limit with this step-by-step guide or video tutorial.

Yearbook Information
Collections at the Middle School-Keep Collecting, Please
We collect the following at the middle school:
1. Pop Tabs-The Pop Tab competition by grade has begun so please continue to collect Pop Tabs for us throughout the year. We donate them to Ronald McDonald House to support families of children with cancer.
2. Box Tops for Education-These are all given to the PTO to support our schools! There is an App and all you have to do is scan your receipt each time you grocery shop. I use it and love it! It could also be a "kid job" at home.
Throughout the year, there are other collections and drives that occur. Keep an eye out for how you can support the causes that are important to the students and staff here!
BoxTops for Education has changed to an App!
