GMS Weekly Newsletter
GMS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 22, 2024
Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families,
We have had a wonderful week at GMS! The Orchestra and Band performances by our 6th grade students were fantastic. I am always amazed by how much growth our students make in such a short period of time. Special thanks to Ms. Burdek, Ms. Podnar and Ms. Rouse-Freitag for preparing these students to perform at such a high level. Mr. Snody was recognized as our GMS Teacher of the Year. I am lucky to work with so many excellent educators! Thanks to Mr. Charnas and Ms. Wasiak for hosting a lunch time tutoring session to help prepare many of our students for the 6th grade math Benchmark Assessment. 28 students chose to take the opportunity to use their lunch time to be better prepared for their test and we are proud of their dedication to their learning.
Next week is a short week. There will not be a weekly newsletter sent. Wishing all of our Wolf Pack families a Happy Thanksgiving. May you all enjoy the time to relax and enjoy your loved ones.
Have a great weekend!

TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Mr. Snody as being recognized as the Geisler MS Teacher of the Year! Mr. Snody is an outstanding science teacher, coach and union representative. He works tirelessly to create interesting and fun lessons that spark curiosity and wonder in his science classroom. Special thanks to all of the students, families and staff who submitted nominations for many of the amazing teachers that come to work each day at Geisler. Each school sends all eligible nominations to it's "partner school" where a team chooses the Teacher of the Year. Mr. Snody will be formally recognized along with all WLCSD TOTY at a January Board of Education Meeting.
SPORTS UPDATE
There was plenty of excitement this week in boys basketball with a total of 3 games happening. The 7th grade boys defeated Pierce on Monday, Oak Valley on Wednesday, and Millenium Thursday to remain UNDEFEATED! 8th grade was also victorious against Pierce, but despite their hard work and valiant effort, fell short to Oak Valley and Millenium. The teams have been improving with each game and every practice. They show their determination and grit on every possession. Be sure to check them out as they continue their journey through this season.
Wrestling - On Tuesday, 11/26, there will be an informational meeting with the wrestling coach at 3:15 PM in the cafeteria. Any students interested should attend. It’s also a great reminder to get your physical and permission slip in so you can participate!
Swimming - On Tuesday, 11/26, there is an information meeting at Central High School, 6 PM at the pool balcony. Please check the handout in school for more information. A physical and permission slip will also be needed for swimming, so if you don’t have one, please have one before the practices start.
REMINDER - All students attending our middle school athletic events as spectators will need an adult chaperone who will be responsible for them. Those without a chaperone will not be allowed to attend.
