A Message from Your Pastor
In our Scripture this weekend, we have the occasion to reflect on the one flesh consecrated union of marriage between man and woman. In Genesis, the original gift of creation to man and man to creation is enhanced by the gift of woman to man and man to woman.

Respect for Life Month
Each October the Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, and the first Sunday of October is observed as Respect Life Sunday.
“When we meet Jesus in the Eucharist, this encounter has the power to change us. The Eucharist has the power to transform the depths of our hearts and the heart of our culture. United to the power of his Eucharistic Presence, may we work to ensure that each person has life—and has it in abundance.” USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities Respect Life Reflection: “I Came So That They Might Have Life”.

SMS Principal's Corner 🍎
St. Mary's students are busy exploring the world around them. The 2nd and 3rd grade students took a trip to Holden Arboretum to learn more about environmental science. Our 1st and 7th grade students learned from a representative of Geauga Parks about bats and things they need to thrive. They are working together on an art/science project. Our Pre-K students are observing a chrysalis to see what the caterpillar will become.
This past week I received a letter from The Ohio Academy of Science that described our junior high science teacher, Mrs. Sarah Allin, as "a true champion of STEM education and student-led research." She is one example of how all of our teachers strive to prepare our students for their future!
The St. Mary School Community will be hosting a "White" Mass during the School/Parish Mass on October 15th at 8:30am. This is a Mass that honors the work of healthcare professionals and is named after the white coats they typically wear. The Mass is associated with St. Luke, the patron saint of physicians and surgeons and is celebrated around his feast day on October 18. We invite all healthcare workers to come and pray with us as we ask God's blessing and peace for you and your vocation.
