Principal's Message
Dear BES families,
I want to extend an enormous amount of gratitude to everyone that is part of our BES community. The unexpected flood we experienced last weekend left a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time. I am blown away by the support and generosity that was offered by parents and the community. Many of our displaced teachers had to moved into rooms that were being used by others, such as our counselor, the PTA, and our farm program. The flexibility and understanding by all involved shows that our school and community know what we stand for, and that is putting students first!
Warm regards,
Allison Fortney
Paper Picnic Success!
I always love seeing the joy on the students faces when they see their parents waiting for them to spend the afternoon enjoying lunch together at our Paper Picnic. Our staff is always so grateful for our families and their generous that helps support our school! We ended up with two pallets of paper!
Office and School Etiquette and Safety
We love and appreciate our parents and visitors that enter our campus each day and greatly appreciate each person that volunteers to support our school. You are always welcome on our campus. More recently, it has been brought to my attention by staff, teachers, and observed by me that volunteers are not always in the designated location that is noted in our Raptor system when they check into the office.
We are not only a school, but also a place of business. Information is shared throughout the day in our office, and other areas of the school, about students that could be sensitive and we as a school are held by law to protect that information. We are also a large campus that has a lot going on every second of the day. Our front office staff is often the first point of contact for an emergency. They are expected to be aware of all visitors entering the campus, answer the phones in a timely manner, and be available for students who enter the office. I ask that you please refrain from lingering in the office so that the office staff can attend to their important job of supporting our school. If you are checking your student out of the office, please wait outside the office doors for your student to ensure other student's privacy.
When volunteering on campus, you are required to state the location where you are volunteering when you check in. Please make sure that you are not entering other classrooms or locations on campus other than the one stated on your sticker when you check in with our Raptor system. This is disruptive to student learning and teacher instruction. Please also refrain from eating lunch with your child when you are checked in as a volunteer.
On behalf of our staff, thank you for adhering to these expectations in order to promote safety and support student learning.

Celebrating Autism Awareness Month: Building Understanding and Acceptance Together
As we embrace the month of April, we also embrace Autism Awareness Month—a time dedicated to fostering understanding, acceptance, and inclusivity for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This month provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals on the autism spectrum, while also increasing awareness about the challenges they may face.
At BES, we believe in creating an environment that embraces neurodiversity and supports the needs of all our students. Here are some ways you can join us in recognizing Autism Awareness Month and promoting acceptance within our community:
Education and Awareness: Take the time to learn more about autism spectrum disorder. Understanding the characteristics and experiences of individuals on the spectrum can help cultivate empathy and support within our community. Autismawareness.com is a great resource to help educate you and answer questions about autism.
Promote Inclusion: Encourage inclusivity in our classrooms and beyond. Celebrate the diverse talents and abilities of all students, including those with autism, and foster an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Embrace Differences: Celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives that individuals with autism bring to our community. By embracing diversity, we can create a more enriching and inclusive environment for all.
