Week of January 13, 2025
Every student graduates ready to live, learn, and thrive in a global community
We are less than two weeks out from the end of Semester 1! Students should be taking advantage of opportunties during FLEX to meet with teachers for extra help, ensure grades are up to date, and be in good academic standing leading up to final exams. Final exams will be January 23 and 24. They are conducted under an open campus format:
- Students are required to attend class when scheduled.
- Students must either be in the designated study hall location or are permitted to leave the campus at times when they do not have a class scheduled.
- District transportation will run as normally scheduled.
- A schedule for these two days can be found here
- Second semester ends January 24.
We need your help! On March 11 Junior Achievement of South Central PA will be at the High School with their STEM Summit Program. All students in Grade 9 will be participating in the day-long event designed to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We are 60 days from the upcoming STEM Summit and in need of 16 volunteers.
- The goal of the STEM Summit is to inspire students to pursue an academic STEM focus in the remainder of their high school courses. After the completion of the STEM Summit, guidance counselors have a foundation to work with students on appropriate course work.
- For this day to be a success, we will need volunteers to facilitate ONE of the STEM activities for the day as students rotate through your station. You do not need to have a STEM background to be a great volunteer! If we do not have these volunteer spots filled, we are in danger of not being able to run this meaningful event.
- Please also share this opportunity with friends, neighbors and colleagues who may be interested in helping the students of our school.
- Please see this flyer for more details
Have a great week!

Senior Scholarships Update
Exchange Students Opportunity
Each year, Etown hosts exchange students to share cultural experiences. However, there are often more students than host families. If you might be interested in hosting in the future, please complete this form to be contacted by an agency. (This must be completed by an adult/parent/guardian.)
GIANT and EASD partnership
The GIANT Company is partnering with EASD to help support our students facing food insecurity.
From January 1 through March 31, everyone who shops at GIANT, MARTIN’S, and GIANT Heirloom Market stores will be invited to “round up” at the register and donate the round-up amount of their bill to support Feeding School Kids. Customers can also give by converting their CHOICE Rewards Points to donations in the GIANT app or purchasing a reusable bag. EASD students and families will be included as a beneficiary of this program.
Junior Physical Exams
Parents of current 11th grade students
This is a reminder that the state mandates all 11th grade students to submit a physical exam. Any physical exam from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant after September 2023 will count. Well child checks, sports physicals, and drivers license physicals all count toward this mandate. If you have any questions or to verify if your student needs to turn in their physical, please contact the nurse's office.
