Message From Principal Smith
Congratulations to our Destination Imagination Team! A heartfelt thank you to Angela Njororai, Adrianne Anderson, Mrs. Broadhead, and Mrs. Whybrew for your dedication and hard work in supporting Owl of This World and The Sunny Sunshines on their successful journey.
Important Updates and Reminders
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates and reminders to keep you connected and engaged with our school community.
We are excited to celebrate Counselor Appreciation Week and recognize the incredible work of Mrs. Portillo, whose dedication and support greatly impact our students' academic success and emotional well-being. Please join us in showing your appreciation for her commitment to our students.
We’re also looking forward to the upcoming Parliament Dance on February 7th, which promises to be a fun and memorable event for our 3rd - 5th grade students. Please refer to the flyer below for more details. Doors will open at 4:55 PM.
As part of our Black History Month celebration, we will hold our Black History Program this Friday during the assembly. After the program, our talented choir has been invited to perform for the Cele Colts.
As a friendly reminder, school opens at 7:05 AM, and learning begins promptly at 7:20 AM. We are committed to teaching bell to bell to maximize instructional time, so it’s important that students arrive on time to start their day successfully. We’ve noticed an increase in both tardies and early pick-ups, which can disrupt learning and classroom routines. If your student arrives late, please walk them into the building and sign them in. For their safety, do not drop them off at the curb unattended.
Whenever possible, we encourage you to schedule appointments after school hours to ensure your child doesn’t miss valuable instructional and social development time.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and respect for the work we do. Together, we can create a positive and productive environment where every student thrives, helping our school reach its highest potential.
Warm regards,
LaTrese Smith

Mott Needs Substitutes
Could This Be You? Or Perhaps Someone You Know?
We are actively seeking additional substitutes at Mott to support our dedicated teachers and Educational Associates. Substitutes play a crucial role, allowing our staff the flexibility to attend appointments, care for their families, or take a well-deserved break. We are fortunate to have a small, dependable group of regular substitutes, many of whom are parents or family members of our Mott students, and we reach out to them whenever we need coverage. If you have availability and flexibility, we encourage you to consider joining our team. You can choose to work solely at Mott, and the compensation is highly competitive!
