PEEK AT THE WEEK

Please take a minute to read the letter below that went home to all parents of latchkey students this past week. I have visited each site to deliver the letters and go over instructions on how families can easily register and pay for the latchkey pre-registration fee that will hold their child's spot. Note that the letter outlines the directions for registering and reminds parents that they need to register their child under the designated latchkey site. Latchkey sites have not changed, they are the following:

• Gates- Gates studens
• Hill- Hill students
• Hahn- a.m. at Cardinal's Nest, p.m. at Hahn
• Central, Siple, Thomson, GSRP and Cardinal's Nest preschoolers- All housed at the Cardinal's Nest

In the past, there were exceptions made for a few families that were allowed to switch sites for their child to the Cardinal's Nest for convenience for drop off and pick up for the parent. In order to make sure that student safety is our first priority, these exceptions will no longer be made. Due to transportation, child care licensing numbers, registration procedures, and staffing, it is too dangerous to allow deviation from the protocol of where students attend latchkey. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes with transportation arrangements, staffing, and following child care licensing rules for numbers and staff to student ratio at each site. If you have a parent that needs further communication regarding this policy, please have them call me in the early learning office. The oversight of all latchkey programs is now handled in the early learning office. Thank you for your help with assisting parents with online registration and reinforcing policy.

Tuesday, June 11th- Y Day!- Year end clearance day for students! Send home student locker contents for the summer.

Wednesday, June 12th- GSRP Family Farewell Dance, Last day for GSRP students, GISD GSRP Advisory- Full Day Data meeting (Susan), sub at Gates for Donna V.

Thursday, June 13th- For Mar trip for Cardinal's Nest, Last day for T,TH CN students, Home visits begin for GSRP staff.

Friday, June 14th- For Mar trip for Cardinal's Nest, Last day for M,W,F, amd M-F CN students

Lori Peppin and I have been working on the completion of 2018-2019 staff evaluations. During the week of June 17th-21st, we will be meeting with staff that have not yet had a meeting to go over and sign their final evaluation. You will receive an email from either myself or Lori this week to schedule you appointment. Please watch for this email. Thank you!

It's that time of year! The GSRP Family Farewell Dance will take place this Wednesday, June 12th in the Central Elementary Gymnasium from 6:00-8:00.

GSRP staff will receive an email to verify where they will be working/chaperoning. It's going to be fun!

• A selfie station will be set up to take family photos.
• Happy Ogre DJing will provide music and lighting for dancing in the gym.
• Popcorn and bottled water will be served.
• Slideshow presentations of classroom events will be shown.
• Semi-formal attire according to DCS dress code.

Monday, June 10th is the final day to register and pay for week 1 of the new Lil' Cardinal's Summer Camp. Latchkey is available before and after the 9:00-3:00 camp. In order to register, families must go to the DCER page, click on Summer Programs and choose L'il' Cardinals summer camp. More details are on the registration site and in the flyer below.

The Summer Scoop is right around the corner! On Wednesday, June 19th we will be having a booth at the District's Summer Scoop event held at the Cardinal Stadium to advertise our Lil' Cardinal's Summer Camp and also our Cardinal's Nest and GSRP registration for 2019-2020.

The event will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium at Davison High School. In case of rain, we will move the event into the high school building. We are hoping for a great crowd and ice cream will be served! All staff that would like to attend are welcome.

Promotion cards for GSRP and Cardinal's Nest students must be filled out this week in order to get them to Siple, Hill, and Thomson on time. I have reviewed promotion cards for GSRP and we are all set on those. I will get promotion cards and directions to Lori on Monday for Sara and Rachael to fill out.

Due to the end of the year district luncheon, Hahn will be having tables and chairs delivered on

Wednesday, June 19th for the luncheon on Thursday, June 20th. Latchkey at Hahn will need to be moved to a classroom on both Wednesday and Thursday of that week.

Payroll signing date for Hahn, Hill, Gates, GECS, and GSRP staff is Monday, June 10th. Please come by the early learning office and sign by 4:00 p.m. Please avoid stopping by between 11:00 and 1:00 due to 1/2 day dismissal, arrival and office staff lunch time. Thank you!
