At SEM, we are so excited to kick off this year's PARP, a celebration of sharing reading experiences! Our theme this year is "Read Like a Rockstar." Each day, we will share some authors who we think are "rockstars" and write books that kids love. We hope you get to know some new authors and reacquaint yourself with some old favorites!

There are some fabulous events happening during PARP! Each Wednesday, students are invited to "Rock of Pages"- the day where they try to read the most pages they can! Students will be working towards earning 3 badges to become part of the SEM Rockin' Readers Hall of Fame.

Save these dates:

January 21- Book Bingo at 7:00 pm in the Cafeteria at SEM

January 22nd- "Shelfie" picture due today! (See article below), Wear green and white or any Daler attire because "Reading is Pawsome!"

January 25th- Return your Fantastic Fact Record today.

January 28th- Family Math & Literacy Night at 6:45pm at SEM

January 29th- Wear a rockstar shirt

February 2nd- Book Fair Family Night at 5:15 pm

February 3-5th- SEM Book Fair

February 5th- Dress like your favorite character from a book.

Click on "SEM Families Favorite Books" to add your family's favorite to the community digital bulletin board (Padlet). Just double-click on any space and then type in your family's name where it says "Title." Then type your favorite book! You don't need to press anything to save it- just click out of the box and your message should be there!

A "shelfie" is like a selfie, except it features a book, too! We are hoping to make a wonderful display of our rockstar readers at SEM, reading one of their favorite books. We are asking everyone to send in a picture of your child or children reading a book. The picture can even feature the whole family! Shelfies are due by January 22nd. Thank you!
