Message from our President - Becki Girouard
Welcome to the 2020-2021 year for YMSL!
I want to thank you for being such an important part of the Legacy Chapter. I know you all feel as excited as I am about this wonderful organization, and look forward to getting to meet & serve in-person again. There are some exciting changes coming including a transition to the Digital Cheetah website, opportunities to serve in new and innovative ways and creative opportunities to meet/ serve together.
The Legacy chapter will practice a safe and steady re-open to full chapter operations, with the care of our members and community at the forefront. As many limitations as we may have at the moment, I believe that this year also offers a tremendous opportunity for the Legacy chapter to showcase our creativity and commitment to our community. We will be able to think about new and innovative ways to step in to fill gaps that may be unique, as well as work with our community partners to donate our time, talents and resources to help. We will continue to serve with heart and compassion. With your help, I have no doubt that this year will be truly exceptional for the Legacy chapter.
Thank you for being a part of the YMSL Legacy 2020-2021 year! I cannot imagine a better group of members and sons to be serving with!
My best, Becki

Philanthropy Update
Welcome to our New Normal/COVID era for philanthropy service events! We have the unique opportunity to influence our Philanthropies more than any other year. According to guidance from National YMSL, service opportunities should only be offered where social distancing can be practiced. Use of masks is encouraged, mandatory if the philanthropy you serve requires it. Currently, the Chapter Hours Requirements (see Website) are still in place, but we will continue to monitor and modify if needed. While we are somewhat limited, for now, in our regular offerings of service events for May and the summer months, there are still several opportunities to serve and earn philanthropy hours. All members still have access to the calendar on our Chapter Website.
There are opportunities for the remainder of May on the calendar now for BedStart (and June), City House, God’s Pantry, Texas Ramps and Upscale Resale. Although many of our philanthropies have suspended volunteer in-person activities, their need for assistance continues, and in many instances has increased now more than ever. Several philanthropies have indicated that they will be resuming their activities in June or July and we will update as we receive that information. Please check the calendar on a regular basis as new events will be getting added soon, including more “Off Site” do-at-home events.
The calendar for June, July and August will open up for sign-ups at 7am on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
Several upcoming “Off-Site” do-at-home events may include nominal donations which will not be eligible for Wish List credits but you will earn credit hours. All participants in these Off Site do-at-home events will be entered into end of year drawings for Wine Baskets (1 per grade level) and Reserved Seating at the end of year Banquet. Hours requirements for end of year Awards and the Banquet will also still be in effect. New this year-Award winners will get reserved Banquet seating and be eligible to invite and pay for 2 additional Banquet guests.
Have an idea for a new philanthropy or do-at-home event? Please share! We’re having to get creative this year with service opportunities due to COVID restrictions.
Please note: Our website will be frozen on May 27 and will go live on June 10, for transition to the new system. If you volunteer during that time period and are unable to log hours, please keep a written record of your hours including philanthropy name, location and activity and contact Irene Ramirez (Ramfamily1@sbcglobal.net) to make sure your hours get posted on the new system. Questions/Concerns/Ideas-Contact Vice President Philanthropy, Irene Ramirez, Ramfamily1@sbcglobal.net or text 214-543-4996.
Parliamentarian Update
As we transition from Chapter Web to the Digital Cheetah platform, it's important that you print out a copy of your hours served to date.
Here is how you do this:
On the YMSL Legacy Chapter Website, select Hours Tab, then select Philanthropy Hours review, then on the right hand side, select the dates from beginning of first year as a member through current date (e.g., Class of 2022 - May 1, 2018.) That should give you total number of hours served since originally joining YMSL. Print this info for your records. Please complete this task by May 18th. If you have questions, please email me at kreichmuth@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Kim
Web Update
ATTENTION!!
Our website transition to Digital Cheetah will begin on May 27th. You will still be able to log your hours as usual.
Our site will be in a 'freeze' state for the transition to our new website powered by Digital Cheetah which will go live on June 10th.
