Tumwater named "District of the Year" by PEI
Last night, Pacific Education Institute honored our district as the "FieldSTEM District of the Year!" What a great honor for our amazing team's efforts to build thoughtful and meaningful FieldSTEM education to our students. Our work has been a collaborative effort between educators in the Tumwater School District and community partners. Mrs. Paul, Middle School CTE TOSA last year and Mrs. Stussy, High School CTE TOSA, played a critical role in facilitating the work, but this could not have been a success without the dedication of our Science/CTE educators to fine tune and implement with students. A special shout out to our awesome educators that worked together on behalf of our students. Congratulations TEAM! Pictured to the right is a group of Tumwater Middle School students who went to Tumwater Valley as part of the FieldSTEM program.

DOH launches Safety Study Hall for schools, students, and families
The Safety Study Hall is a library of information and resources on several important health and safety issues for schools, students, and families/caregivers. Created by the Washington State Department of Health in partnership with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and other organizations, the Safety Study Hall is a place to start learning. They are starting with the key safety topics outlined by the Washington State Legislature in HB 1230: prevention strategies related to substance use, and the safe storage of prescription/over-the-counter medication, firearms, and ammunition. They have researched federal, state, local and community resources to find answers to common questions about these issues. Click the icon above and check it out.
Talk Time
English Conversation Circle is being held the first and third Monday of each month from 6-7pm at Olympia Timberland Library. This is a great opportunity for anyone to practice English skills in a friendly place.
How do you get from here ... to there?
Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) is studying transportation options between Thurston and Pierce counties. Tell us how you make the trip—and how you wish you could make the trip!
Your feedback will help shape the future of transportation in our region. The survey is only 6 questions! (Hint: More people living and working in a smaller area could change what options we have to get around!) Take the survey here: https://www.trpc.org/FormCenter/Transportation-Forms-6/High-Capacity-Transportation-Study-61
Learn more about TRPC's study, including what it would take for our region to support rail services between Thurston and Pierce counties: https://trpc.org/1174/High-Capacity-Transportation (Hint: More people living and working in a smaller area could change what options we have to get around!)
Have a great weekend!
