Need to Know
24 Hours for the Unhoused - Socks and Soup Collection: Next week, you can bring new socks and canned soup to donate to Stepping Up and Dans la Rue, and leave them in the boxes outside Ms. Beech's office. We encourage everyone to contribute to this worthy cause!
Poppies and blazers on Remembrance Day: Each student will receive a poppy in class on Monday, November 11 to wear at our Remembrance Day assembly. Please note that all students are required to be in full uniform (including blazers) for this special assembly. Please send in a $2 donation (or more) for a poppy on November 11. Donations go to the Royal Canadian Legion in support of Canadian veterans and to promote Remembrance.
School Photo Retake Day: Thursday, November 14 at 8:30am. If your son wishes to have his photo retaken, please inform Ms. Beech so she can ensure that he doesn’t miss the photo retake session!
Parent-Student-Teacher Virtual Conferences Nov 21 & 22: Beginning Thursday, Nov 14 at 3:00 p.m., parents can make appointments using pickAtime, our online booking software. The instructions for booking appointments are attached. Please note that conferences are not mandatory and you have the option to contact a teacher to arrange a phone call or alternate meeting time if that is preferable. You may wish to wait until the Term 1 report card has been emailed to you (Tues Nov 19 is the target) and then arrange appointments accordingly. Students are expected to attend the virtual meetings with their parents on Nov 21 & 22.
Middle School Dance at Trafalgar November 15: Grade 7&8 students are invited to this inter-school event taking place on Friday, November 15, 7-10pm at Trafalgar School for Girls. Advance ticket sales only ($10 admission), at Ms. Beech’s office. Students need to bring their student ID cards. Snacks will be sold at the dance, doors will close at 8pm. Ms. Corbie will attend the dance to chaperone.
True to Others Campaign in Middle School: Over the next month we'll introduce community service programming in an effort to combat food insecurity. We'll be collecting soup, preparing holiday baskets for local families, and offering an optional volunteer opportunity. You can read more about it here.
Holiday Bazaar at SHS December 5: With the holiday season just around the corner, the PVA is excited to announce it is organizing its first Holiday Bazaar on Thursday December 5! Keeping sustainability in mind, after the November break the PVA will start collecting gently used items including toys, games, puzzles, holiday decorations and more, for resale to students and family members in a holiday market format. All the money raised will benefit Resilience Montreal, a non-profit day shelter. It's a great opportunity for parents to get involved! Sign up if you can contribute baked goods and/or volunteer for a shift. Items can be dropped off at the school's front desk starting Monday November 11th. We will have more information coming in the next few weeks. Please email amandajelowicki@hotmail.com with any questions.
Dress for the weather! A colder and wetter season is close at hand! Students need a pair of inside shoes that are only worn inside the school. Outside shoes or boots are required and are left in the lockers after each recess. Students are encouraged to go outside every day for recess and must come prepared to play in any kind of weather.
Halloween: Thank you to parents, students and staff who participated and contributed to a fun Halloween day! As promised, here are more photos of our Middle School costume winners - Noah, Justin and Nicholas - Middle School staff, and PVA members who were inspired by the Halloween spirit!
