As you're aware, the prevalence of Fentanyl poses an escalating threat to our youth. In the brief duration of my tenure, the concerning statistics have shown a persistent rise. In January 2023, four out of every ten pills tested positive for a lethal dose of Fentanyl. By October 2023, this figure increased to six out of ten pills. Shockingly, by January 2024, the ratio surged to an alarming rate of seven out of ten pills containing a deadly dosage of Fentanyl. It's evident that our youth are unwittingly engaging in a perilous game of chance every time they experiment with street drugs.

In May, we mark Mental Health Month with pride, honoring Mental Health America's 1949 tradition. Together, we raise awareness, offer crucial resources, and advocate for mental well-being. This year's theme, "Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World," addresses the challenges of navigating today's evolving society. The 2024 Mental Health Month toolkit explores how the modern world affects mental health and provides new resources to cope. We encourage action, from expanding coping strategies to advocating for community mental health. Let's prioritize mental well-being together, knowing that every effort, no matter how small, contributes to supportive and understanding communities.
