Fisher Family Update
March 7, 2025

Good Afternoon Fisher Families,
As a parent myself, I know how hectic mornings can be! Between getting everyone ready, packing lunches, and making sure nothing is left behind, the morning rush can feel overwhelming. That being said, arriving to school on time is an important habit that helps students start their day feeling prepared and confident.
When students arrive late, they not only miss important instructions but may also feel unsettled or self-conscious walking into a lesson already in progress. Some students have even shared that arriving late feels like a spotlight is on them, which can be uncomfortable. Additionally, frequent tardiness can make it harder for students to stay on track academically and socially.
We understand that occasional lateness happens, but we want to work together to help all students start their day smoothly. Here are a few tips that may help:
- Establish a Routine: A consistent bedtime and morning schedule can make getting ready for school more predictable.
- Plan Ahead: Preparing backpacks, clothes, and lunches the night before can reduce stress in the morning.
- Encourage Responsibility: Teaching children time management skills can help them take ownership of their morning routine.
- Address Transportation Challenges: If getting to school on time is difficult, consider carpooling or adjusting morning departure times.
- Reach Out for Support: If your child is struggling with morning routines, we are here to help!
If you have any concerns or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher, one of our school counselors (Ms. Mahoney or Ms. MacQuarrie), or myself. We are happy to work with you to find a solution that ensures your child arrives on time and ready to learn.
Thank you for your partnership in helping our students start their day off right!
Enjoy the weekend!
Brian

Bowling at Kings in Dedham
The Walpole Public Schools have been a proud METCO district for many years. The METCO program provides students from Boston with a strong academic foundation rich in cultural, educational, ethnic, socioeconomic, and racial diversity and fosters the opportunity for children from Boston and Walpole to develop a deeper understanding of each other in an integrated public school setting. We value these relationships among the students and feel it goes well beyond the classroom and school setting. Please see the invitation below:
Dear Families,
Walpole METCO is excited to host our annual bowling event at Kings (600 Legacy Place, Dedham, MA 02026)! Join us for an afternoon of fun on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Docent News
Orientation is coming:
Join us in the Docent volunteer program ‒ a great way to get into the classroom, engage with kids in grades 1-7, open their eyes to art, and have some fun!
Requirements:
No experience is necessary
We will teach you what you need to know, and hand you all the materials. Classroom visits take about an hour, and often include games or crafts. The commitment is a few hours a couple of times a year. We are recruiting now for the Matisse unit in 1st grade for this year ‒ or next year all other grades!
About Docent:
This PAC sponsored fun and unique program has been a part of Walpole schools for more than 40 years. Together we explore different artists, art styles, time periods, cultures and types of art - and the kids love it! Every classroom has room for multiple docents (the more the merrier!) and the teachers are great about working with your schedules - so you can set up your classroom visits at times that work for you. We currently have 50 volunteers (parents and grandparents). If you would like to volunteer, please let us know. Everyone is welcome.
Schedule by Grade:

Special Request - Boxes of Cereal
All Fisher students (K-5) will be participating in a special team building activity in March. We kindly request donations of unopened, regular size boxes of cereal. We need approximately 500 boxes since we are looking for enough to line our halls to make a "domino formation". After our team building activity, the cereal boxes will be donated to the Walpole Food Pantry. Thank you!
**We are still looking for cereal**
Extended Day - Pilot Summer Program
We are excited to announce that Extended Day will be running a Pilot Summer Program this upcoming summer and registration is now live. We are anticipating registration to fill quickly and will do our best to enroll as many waitlisted students as possible.
This year, the camp will run for 4 weeks at Fisher Elementary and offer an Extended Day PM option for families. Registration will be open for incoming first-sixth graders. Registration will be available for individual weeks and families will have the option to register for all 4 weeks at a discounted rate.
Please see the attached PDF regarding Summer Camp Information and Registration Information for the Summer of 2025 and reach out to Dan Santangelo (dsantangelo@walpole.k12.ma.us) or Evan Storlazzi (estorlazzi@walpole.k12.ma.us) with any questions.

Scenes from Fisher!
Miss Nichols class is learning about erosion. First we learned that rivers begin on mountains when rain water runs down the slope. We made models to see! Then we simulated rocks breaking down into sand as they travel down a river.
