FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
Father Cyprian celebrated First Holy Communion Masses last weekend.
The children were so very reverent as they received Jesus for the very first time, drawing them into a closer relationship with God. May they continue to be nourished by Jesus’ body and blood each time they come to mass.
It was lovely seeing the children surrounded by their families on the weekend too.
I congratulate our children, their families and our Year 4 teachers, Mrs Holness and Mrs Poggioli for preparing the children so beautifully. Special thanks to Father Cyprian, Father Francis, RE Parish Co ordinator, Ms Brigid Fredericks and the PCPS staff for their support of our children and families in this parish-based sacrament.
OUR LADY OF THE MISSION PARISH 50 YEARS CELEBRATION
On 20 October Our Lady of the Mission Parish celebrates 50 Years! All PCPS families are invited to attend a special mass at 10am. Mrs Twine and Ms Capriotti will be busy preparing some of our children to take part in a special post communion song.
Families are invited to stay on to enjoy a huge celebratory cake, an array of food and lots of entertainment on the oval near the church. And it’s all free!
Please note that we will not be having out Family Mass in November this year as Father Cyp would love everyone to attend the 50th celebration mass instead.
Catholic Performing Arts
We have had an exciting few weeks with The Arts. Many children have been taking part in solo and duets in the Catholic Performing Arts. This week our Yr 5 Choir took centre stage showcasing their singing talents and next week some of our Drama students will take centre stage with their performance. Hugh thanks to Mrs Twine, Mrs Bastow and Mrs Ewen for all their hard work in preparing the children.
Yesterday our Yr 4 and Yr 6 children took part in One Big Voice, Australia's biggest choir festival. We had six students being compere and performing in solo/small group singing as well as all the children singing in the massive choir! Our very own Yr 6 student, Shristi, sang the National Anthem at the start of the festival, a very special moment indeed. Many thanks to our talented Music Teacher Mrs Twine for preparing the children for this festival.
This was such a fabulous opportunity for our children, singing positive, upflifting and life affirming songs amongst 7500 students! They had an absolutely wonderful time.
Athletics Carnival
In a couple of weeks, we have a busy sporting schedule week with Jumps and Throws taking place at the beginning of the week, culminating with our school Athletics Carnival on Friday 6 September.
I would like to thank Mr Hignett for all his preparatory work as so much goes on behind the scenes which we do not see. I am very appreciative of this.
We look forward to parents being able to join us on the day and cheering the children on. Don't forget that our P&F Sauge Sizzle will also be occurring in this day, so your lunch is sorted thanks to Ann Sargeant and her helpers. If you spare some time to help between your children's races it would be very much appreciated.
P&F
I want to give a big shout out to our dedicated and hardworking P&F Executive – Cathy, Megann, Severine and Sara. These ladies are so generous with their time, work collaboratively and tirelessly with general members, portfolio holders and class reps, share their expertise willingly, run a positive and smooth ship and are always fully supportive of the Leadership Team. Ladies THANKYOU for all that you do, you are a vital and appreciated part of our PCPS community.
Big thanks to Bree Brynes and Kath O’Sullivan for the fun filled Las Vegas parent social that they organised recently. It was filled to capacity and parents who attended had a great time.!

P & F
P & F News
Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent P&F Survey. The results were shared at last week’s P&F meeting, with the feedback helping to shape our planning for 2025. The key takeaways from the survey were:
- The eagerness for a whole school community Family Event.
- Ease the number of events throughout the year to lighten the load and prioritise quality over quantity.
- More volunteers are needed – many hands make light work!
- More than 85 per cent of respondents feel well informed about events and initiatives run by the P&F.
We are now in full planning mode for 2025, so if you have any further thoughts, feedback, suggestions or ways you can help our wonderful school community, please reach out and email me at katie_scho@hotmail.com.
Thank You
A big *Thank You* to Amity Psychology (Gallagher family) for the very generous donation towards a new barbeque for the P&F, just in time for the wonderful Father’s Day event.
We are looking to replace all our ageing barbeques, so any contribution is greatly appreciated!
A huge *Thank You* to Bree Byrnes and Kath O’Sullivan for putting together a fabulous parent social with the recent Vegas casino night. It was great to see so many parents there catching up, meeting new people and enjoying the best grazing table I’ve ever seen.
Casey Epding and Laura Kirkwood were voted best dressed on the night, and Cam Kearney was the overall winner of the games. Thank you to local businesses Whitfords Brewing Company, Tease by Lynelle – Hairdressing & Makeup and Bunnings Wangara for their generous donations of prizes!
Father's Day Breakfast
Next Friday, 30 August, we celebrate our Dads, grandfathers, father figures and important people in our lives with the Father’s Day Breakfast. A huge thank you to Sarah Knox and her team of helpers for organising this year’s breakfast.
Don’t forget to grab your tickets for the Father’s Day Raffle on Flexischools, where all money raised goes back into the P&F to ensure great activities and community building for our school.
Prizes include exclusive use of the P&F car bay and a hamper filled with goodies.
Athletics Carnival Sausage Sizzle
Friday 6 September is the annual PCPS Athletics Carnival.
Thanks again to Ann Sargeant who will be firing up the barbeques to keep our kids and spectators going with a delicious sausage sizzle lunch.
Please keep an eye on Facebook for the call out for helpers for this day!
We would like to encourage everyone to get your orders into Flexischools by Monday Sept 2nd. If you would also like to order for family/ friends attending the event you can order via Flexischools as well.

**Cluck-tastic News from Our School Coop!**
We're thrilled to share some exciting updates about our school's three cherished chickens! These friendly feathered friends have been settling into their cozy coop and are now laying eggs regularly. Our students have loved watching how the chickens contribute to our school community—not only by providing fresh eggs but also by happily munching on our lunch scraps, which helps reduce food waste.
Thanks to the love and care from our students, our chickens are incredibly friendly and even enjoy a cuddle or two! They teach us valuable lessons about responsibility, sustainability, and the simple joys of farm life right here at school.
