Bellflower Middle/High School Newsletter
Welcome Back to the 2024-25 School Year
We had a great opening start to this school year! We hope to see that positive energy continue for the rest of the year!
Below are just a few reminders about school policies:
- Bellflower Middle/High School does not permit any drop-offs or deliveries of food or other items. Please ensure that your student is prepared for the day when coming to school in the morning with their lunch, supplies, money, etc. Parents (with ID) can bring food during lunch to the attendance office to give to their student.
- Dress Code. Please be sure that your student follows the dress code and wears appropriate clothing and accessories. Bellflower hats are also the only school approved hat that can be worn at school.
- No returning back to campus. If a student has an early release (7th or 8th period), once the student leaves campus, they may not return to campus. Parents - please ensure that your students are going home early if they have the early release.
- School Bus. If you are an early release student who takes the school bus, you may only take the bus that is available for the early release students. You may not wait around campus to take the later bus.

2024-25 Counseling Team
Counselor Request Form
Dear Student:
This form will provide an easy way for you to connect with the Bellflower MS/HS Counseling Team! Just fill out this form, and we will follow up with you as soon as we can!
Counselors are available to respond Mon-Fri. from 8:30-4:30 (except holidays/breaks) and are not available during the weekend. If this is an emergency and you do not have immediate access to a counselor please reach out to a trusted adult ASAP, call 911, or call/text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
Schedule Change Request Form
BMHS Counselors are hard at work balancing courses and finalizing the schedule for this school year. Please review the following information. Counselors will be working to address schedule change requests through Friday August 23, 2024. Please attend your classes as provided on your schedule until you confirm and changes have been made with your Counselor.
Reasons to submit a schedule change request:
- Your schedule contains an error (repeat course or a course you completed in summer school)
- Your schedule is missing a class you need for A-G eligibility or Graduation
- You would like to level down or level up in a core class (to/from Honors or AP)
- You would like to change your elective
*Please note all schedule changes are subject to space availability.
Home Periods on Student Schedules
Students with a "home period" on their schedule are not enrolled in an academic course during that time. If a student has a Home 1st or Home 2nd period, their school day begins at the start of 3rd/4th period. Similarly, if they have a 7th/8th home period, their school day ends after 5th/6th period. If your student prefers to fill this time with an academic course, they can submit a course change request to add one of our CTE Pathway or Elective courses.
Data Confirmation
Data Confirmation is Now Open
IMPORTANT: ALL FAMILIES must complete online data confirmation through BUSD's Aeries Parent Portal for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
To complete data confirmation, parents need a Parent Portal account. If you do not have the required information (Student ID Number and Verification Code) to create a Parent Portal account, please contact your school site. The school sites open on August 1, 2024.

Minga
Bellflower Middle/High School students will utilize the app called Minga as a digital ID card. The app enables staff to create hall passes, reward students for doing well and helping others, and the digital ID card will help students have an easier time entering or leaving campus. The digital ID has a "live" interface, with a running digital clock and a moving background, thus preventing students from using a screenshot [Screenshots of ID are not permitted]. Students will utilize their school email (via Google) to log in. The app is safe to use, uses very little data, and doesn't require access to any of the information stored on your phone. If your child does not have a smartphone, don't worry - they will receive a printed ID card as well.
Students must sign in using the "sign in with google" button to access their account.
BMHS Wellness Center
The BMHS Wellness Center is open for students to utilize this space on campus dedicated to supporting ALL students in their pursuit of positive wellbeing. The Wellness Center aims to create opportunities for students to learn about the mind-body connection while striving to positively impact all aspects of their lives. Come swing by and say hello.
ParentSquare
Bellflower Middle/High School is using ParentSquare!
We are excited to let you know that this year we’ll be using ParentSquare to communicate with you at the school, and in your classrooms and groups. ParentSquare provides a simple and safe way for everyone at school to connect. Parents should have received an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare, while students can use their school email/password using the Google button on the site.
Below are two videos, one in English and one in Spanish, that explain the purpose of ParentSquare, in addition to some helpful documents.
Paper Tutoring
Did you know that free online tutoring is being provided by the BUSD district? Students can log in to Paper using their school district's Clever accounts (which uses the student's school email/password), or they can download the Paper app!
PAPER Online Tutoring is available for all students in 4th-12th grade through their Clever account. Students may ask tutors questions through the chat feature using the PAPER APP to get help with homework, feedback on their writing, or support with studying for assessments. The APP can be found in the Google Play and Apple APP store.
