Cooperative School Zone - Drop-off & Pick-up

A few tips to help make drop-off and pick-up smooth and, most importantly, safe. Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe!

Sumac Ave.

• Hug & Go is available on Sumac in front of the school. Parents remain in their car and staff will help your child(ren) in and out of the car. Please continue to pull forward as far as possible to help keep the line moving.

• We highly discourage parking on Sumac or having your child cross the street outside of the crosswalks for safety reasons but also to be respectful of our neighbors.

• No U-turns are allowed in school zones! See the Boulder City Ordinance for more. Carefully pull into traffic and continue west on Sumac after exiting the Hug & Go.

• Cars are not to use the circle drive in front of the school unless you need to utilize the handicapped parking spot.

Parking Lot

• Parents are welcome to park in the parking lot and walk their children to their classrooms.

• Please drive slowly and watch for students darting out from between cars.

• No cars are allowed to drive in the lane closest to the Kindergarten Playground.

• All cars need to exit to the right/west-bound on Sumac Ave. Staff will be stationed at the exit to remind drivers of this.

Pedestrians and Bike-riders

• We have several bike racks around the school and are working with ROCV to add even more!

• The circle drive at the front of the school is blocked off from cars so bikes, scooters, etc. can have a safer path to the bike racks at the front of the school.

• Stay alert and do not assume cars know you are there!

As always, please stay off your cell phone while diving, especially in and around school zones.

Volunteering in BVSD

Volunteers and field trip chaperones who volunteer once and are under line-of-sight supervision by BVSD staff at all times only need to go through the front office free Raptor check-in process.

Individuals interested in volunteering and interacting with students on an ongoing basis under line of sight supervision of BVSD staff, complete the appropriate yearly application; ENGLISH or SPANISH. Please note that a $32.00 background fee is due at the time of submission.

For volunteers, partners, or field trip chaperones who will not be under line-of-sight supervision of BVSD staff at all times – CBI fingerprint check is required through a third party vendor (these background checks are now valid for 5 years), paid by the volunteer or partner AND volunteer must sign a BVSD volunteer agreement (Spanish) each year.

Wednesday Late Start Childcare

Late Start Wednesdays begin August 21. School begins at 8:50 on late start Wednesdays. If you need childcare from 7:50 - 8:50 on these mornings, please complete this form. There is no cost. Please complete a form for each child enrolled at Crest View who will be attending the childcare.

BVSD is Hiring Bus Drivers

BVSD is suffering from a nationwide shortage of bus drivers. If we do not hire enough drivers we will be forced to eliminate some bus routes, leaving some eligible students without a bus to ride. For many of these students, the school bus is the only way to get to school.

You can help! Apply to be a BVSD bus driver! BVSD offers competitive wages ($25.49 - $29.55/hour) and bonuses ($1,000 - $3,500) for new hires, as well as paid CDL training (No experience necessary to be hired). Welcome Coffee - Friday, August 23rd @ 7:50 am

Join the ROCV executive team and fellow Crest View parents for a Welcome Coffee in front of the school by the flagpole. This event is open to all families after the students get into class. We hope to see you all there!

Celebrate ROCV Fall Fest on Back to School Night!

Come celebrate the start of school at Crest View's Fall Festival event, on Wednesday, August 28th from 5-7 p.m. at the Crest View playground! Bring a blanket and picnic, or money to visit the food trucks. ROCV will provide beverages, treats, a bike obstacle course, as well as a bouncy obstacle course, Q&A table, face paint, and Crest View spirit gear will be for sale. It's fun for the whole family! ROCV Photography Opt Out Form

ROCV will occasionally take pictures of Crest View Students participating in ROCV events or using materials/equipment funded by ROCV. These photos may be used to promote ROCV's efforts to better our school as well as for fundraising. The photos may be used on the ROCV website and occasionally on social media platforms. If you would like to exclude your child's image from being used for this purpose, please fill out this Photography Opt Out Form.

Zapsters

Want help getting your kids out the door in the morning? If they can bike, walk, scooter, or skate, you can sign them up for Crest View's self-powered commuting program, Zapsters. Each day they scan their Zapsters tag at the bike racks is a chance to win the weekly Green Gear prize. The winners of the Zapsters Green Gear prize will be announced every Monday on CVTV. Seeking Room Parent Volunteers-

Each classroom teacher has one or more Room Parents volunteers a year. This position for the 2024-25 school year. A Room Parent works closely with a classroom teacher to coordinate volunteers and supplies for class parties, organize class gifts to teachers and email parents about one staff appreciation lunch hosted by each grade level and help organize conference snacks. This job can mostly be done over email, in class participation is not required and can be shared with another parent. There is a one-time online Orientation meeting at the beginning of the year. If you are interested in a room parent position please complete this Room Parent Interest Form before Sunday, Aug. 27th. Crossing Guards Needed!

Crest View's crossing guard team is recruiting new volunteers! It's a fun 30 minute job, greatly valued by kids and parents. We have morning and afternoon slots available. If you can join us, please reach out through rocv.org/crossing-guard.
