Growing a Garden!
Week of January 21st
Dear Duval Families-
Last week, we held an all school assembly discussing the importance of peacemakers. The chorus sang the song "A Million Dreams," Dr. Marcus talked about making a difference using words, and the whole school came together to sing "This Little Light of Mine." The students also wrote down their dream for themselves, the school, or the world. They are displayed next to the cafeteria for everyone to read. A recording of the assembly is here on our Dolphin TV Channel and on Whitman Cable.
Please keep sending kids to school with coats, hats and hand gear so they are well protected at recess. The temperatures are expected to drop this week. With snow on the ground, please send in boots if possible. Students love playing in the snow at recess!
Registration for the Fun Run starts on January 21! Be sure to register and start fundraising! The Fun Run will take place on February 13th in the gym!
Reminder that this Friday, January 24 is an Early Release Day. We will be starting dismissal at 12:15pm. Also, it's National Compliment Day, so be prepared for some fun!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
Dr. Marcus and Ms. Craig

Winter Recess
It's COLD and it's New England! We go out for recess! (Although, Tues, Wed look too cold at this point.)
ALL students MUST come to school prepared to go outside for recess. Students should come with a coat, hat, gloves/mittens, and boots (if there's snow). If you need help getting any of these, please email or call Dr. M, Ms. Craig, or Mrs. Sewall.
And pleeeeaase, PUT NAMES ON EVERYTHING! Thank you very much!!

PTO NEWS!
Next up in January is our first Scholastic Book Fair of the year from January 27th-31st, with a family night of fun on the evening of Wednesday January 29th. Be on the lookout for more information on the Fair itself, the eWallet program, and volunteering opportunities.
Speaking of volunteers, it is crucial that you verify your background check status with the front office if you want to help out with In-School events. Even if you have done one in the past, it may have expired. Please check with Ms. Brandon to make sure your CORI is up to date.
Importantly, Registration for this year's Booster Glow Run opens this week! We hope this is a great fundraiser, supporting enrichment for ALL of our Duval Dolphins!
Thank you all and we hope to see you soon,
